  1. Causes, effect, and solution of air pollution Causes, effect, and solution of air pollution Air is essential to life, without which we can’t imagine to survive. The quality of air we intake impacts our health greatly, not only ours but also the plants and animals. Thousands of people die prematurely each year due to air pollution. This is the reason why it is important to monitor the quality of air around us. Air pollution has both short and long term effects on health, those who breathe poor quality of air are highly prone to respiratory disease, heart disease, and skin problems as well. Causes of poor air quality There could be many reasons behind air pollution, both man-made and environmental. Human being largely contributes to air pollution due to their uncontrolled activities. Natural source of air pollution- Smoke from combustion, volcanic eruption are main source of natural air pollution. Besides, dust carried by the wind is also comes in list of natural source of air pollution. Man-made source of air pollution- Major cause of air pollution is gaseous emission from factories, vehicles, waste incineration, furnaces, etc. Burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum in power plants and vehicles releases harmful gases like methane, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide which is polluting the atmosphere every day. Effects of air pollution •Heart and respiratory problems like stroke, heart attack, emphysema, asthma are become more common nowadays with the increased level of pollution in air. Exposure to high pollution levels during childhood has the potential to damage early brain development. •Another direct effect of air pollution is global warming and acid rain that cause great damage to natural habitats of animals, buildings, and crops. Ozone layer which is protecting us from harmful UV rays is also depleting due to presence of CFCs and hydrocarbons in the air. This could cause major eye and skin related problems like cancer.

  2. Solutions to reduce air pollution •Practice carpooling, and try to use public modes of transport to travel. This will not only reduce air pollution but also an option to save money and energy. •Use environment friendly household cleaning products, avoid setting fire to garbage, and reduce the use of fossil fuels. •Emphasized on clean energy resources like solar and geothermal energy. Follow these practices and spread awareness about the same. Air quality monitoring and assessment could help to achieve these goals.
