  8. Progress (so far) • Quarterly classes are being taught with overwhelming reception. • Second sessions are being added to classes in demand. • Tutorials are being loaded on Intranet. • Employees are reading the Intranet blogs to learn more tips and tricks.

  9. If you feed them…they will learn

  10. Issues…or “What not to do” • Video editing software is hard to learn: Get a book or take a class. • Creating tutorials is time-consuming: Consider mistakes your practice and start over. • Employees may think you are goofing off: Set them straight and delegate!

  11. Collaborating with your School District can be like tug of war P.S. Don’t do this either.

  12. Next Steps • Continue quarterly classes. • Increase topics being taught. • Load training videos on Intranet. • Add tutorials on library website to assist the public. • Persuade managers to create a training plan for each employee and include in performance evaluations.

  16. And Finally… • Branches will be offering library instruction classes for the public, even reaching out to new users who prefer searching from home. • Use of databases and other subscription services will increase. • Communities will value libraries because they have proven to be a necessary resource.
