Rapid urbanization and changing lifestyle is the main reason behind this. Cancers cells are known to feed over sugars, the simpler the sugar ,the more the risk . Sweets , candies , chocolates, ice creams or whichever food containing large amount of sugar (chinni) are harmful as they raise our blood sugar levels very fast and becomes the easy food for cancers cells. Where as complex sugars like jaggery, honey or molasses or maple syrup release slowly in our body and are difficult to process by the cancer cells. It is a simple sugar and works by the same mechanism as the refined sugars and promotes growth of cancers. So the more a food or cereal is refined to increase its taste value the more dangerous it becomes . Our body is capable of deriving nutrition from cereals in its most natural form but cancers cells cannot do this so if we take food in refined way we are indirectly promoting growth of abnormal cells in our body. Processed food undergo a lot tampering to increase its shelf life. High amounts of salt, sugar, refined oils and various chemicals are added in these foods which are potential carcinogens (any substance which causes cancer is known as carcinogen). These foods have zero nutritive value . Refined oils : Refined oils like soybean, canola, cottonseed, sunflower, safflower oils commonly used for cooking are not good for health. These oils are extracted from plants through various processes which involve use of chemicals. Also heating these oils at high temperatures, oxidizes them which convert them into trans fat which can cause cancer and various cardiovascular diseases. Hydrogenated oil like vanaspati oil are even worse than refined oil. Use only coconut oil, palm oil, mustard oil, butter or desighee for cooking. WWW.JIYYO.COM •

Grilling changes the molecular structure of the meat. So avoid grilling meat instead use baking or broiling methods for cooking meat. Salted, pickled or smoked food: Such foods besides high amount of salt also contains nitrates. Nitrates accumulate over time in our body which causes damage to our cells thus promote cancer. French fries and chips: French fries and potato chips are prepared in refined oils thus contains trans fats which harmful for our body as they act as oxidants which cause inflammation and DNA damage finally leading to cancers .
