  2. The three journeys… • Searching for the king • From home to Jerusalem • Seeking the king • From Jerusalem to Bethlehem • Serving the king • From Bethlehem back home

  3. Who were the wise men? Three of them? Kings? From the Orient?

  4. Searching for the king (the first journey) They were serious about it Jerusalem was bewildered by it Herod was panicked by it

  5. It’s how people still react to the King today serious honestly looking for him bewildered despairing of ever finding him panicked wanting him to go away

  6. Seeing the king (the second journey) WHAT THEY FELT WHAT THEY DID WHAT THEY GAVE “they rejoiced with great joy exceedingly” worship, then gifts gold, frankincense, myrrh

  7. Serving the king (the third journey) God spoke to them directly They changed their plans The King was safe
