Sales Growth in Residential Window Installation and Replacement

In a market research report, IBISWorld noted that construction activity has slowed down during the economic downturn. This did not only affect contractors, but the entire industry. In fact, nearly 68,328 people are working for about 13,045 businesses in the infrastructure and contractors industry. Contractors of doors, windows, and other housing parts are not getting as much jobs because households prefer to DIY to cut costs. Fortunately, the industry is slowly making its way back.

  2. Here is an overview of the current sales growth for better understanding: Constructions, Remodeling, and Replacements An annual report from the Window & Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) and the American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) revealed that the rebound of new home constructions in the U.S. is contributing to the sales growth of residential window and door installations. Ducker Worldwide noted that many statistical reviews and forecasts are foreseeing bigger gains for residential fenestration demand from 2013 through 2015—or maybe even beyond. This is because window and door replacement projects and home remodeling are happening more often in U.S. homes.

  3. The Biggest Increase and Decrease in the Industry The AAMA 2013/2014 Study of the U.S. Market for Windows, Doors and Skylights reports that conventional residential windows for both single and multi-family applications have increased by 15.8%. From 37.9 million units, there are 43.9 million units in 2011 alone. In terms of material, wooden windows drastically fell in popularity from 20.8% to 2.8%. Many households have been seeking for alternatives and are now mostly using vinyl for a low-maintenance and cost-effective option. As for the remodeling and replacement usage of windows, the report shows that it has also stabilized with single-digit increases for the following years. Home construction, remodeling, and replacement projects are finally making their comeback. With doors and windows involved, contractors still need to make sure that they provide services that are worthy of their client’s trust.
