These are the most common file that you will see if you are a Family Tree Maker user. 1. .FTW 2. .FBK 3. .FBC 4. .FTM 5. .FTMB Note: You can create a .ged (Gedcom) file using FTM. .FTW, .FBK and .FBC are file types of an older version of FTM. How to import an older version of the Family Tree Maker file to a newer version of FTM? 1/4

  2. Please note you can import version 5 and newer, personal ancestral file, Gedcom file, and Legacy Family Tree. To import a file, please open the FTM software. Click on Select Tree or import an existing tree. check the image below. Click on the button pointed by an error. It will ask you to browse the file. You can now choose the file, you want to import to your FTM. Sometimes it does not show any file in the folder. If you do not see any files then click on all files. Now you will be able to see the file in the folder. Please find the image below for reference. How to repair a damaged FTM file?
