  1. Listing Products on Amazon Without GTIN (UPC, EAN, JAN, ISBN) It is understood that a standard product identifier like UPC, EAN, JAN, or ISBN makes it extremely easy to list products on Amazon. But what if your product has no such standard identifier? In such a case, you can apply for a UPC Exemption for the category your product belongs to. GTIN means Global Trade Item Number and is considered a standard product ID. These are usually different codes like UPC, ISBN, or EAN. But they are not just mere codes. These codes are designed to ensure a top-quality shopping experience for anyone shopping on Amazon. A GTIN also provides a lot of information to be added on the product details page. For most of the categories listed on Amazon, you need a GTIN in order to be able to list a new product or even if you’re listing a product already existing in the Amazon catalog. In order to get more information on GTIN requirements for various categories, you can check out the page https://sellercentral.amazon.com/gp/help/external/200317470. Another good idea is to check out the ASIN Creation Policy to avoid the creation of duplicate product pages. Faith eCommerce Services

  2. But What If The Product Doesn’t Have A GTIN? It is understandable that some products may not have any GTIN at all. In this case, you should first check Amazon to ascertain whether the product has been previously listed on Amazon or not. A quick search can help you in that. If it was previously listed or is still listed, you can simply list your offer on the existing product details page. But if your product is completely new and Amazon has no such listing and there is no GTIN number available, you will have to apply for a GTIN Exemption. List of Eligible Cases for GTIN Exemption •In case brand, manufacturer or publisher does not provide GTIN (for example, handmade products). •In case of non-branded products (example, wholesale items) •In case the part does not have a GTIN (example, some automotive parts) •In case of bundles/special packages (example, customized bundles) NOTE:Don’t forget to check Amazon’s Product Bundling Policy before creating customized bundles. GTIN Compulsory Brands There are certain brands for which a GTIN is compulsory in order for their products to be listed on Amazon. Exemption will not be applicable to the products of these brands. Following are examples of few brands that require GTIN •11 •!iT Collective •!iT Jeans •[BLANKNYC] •10 Crosby Derek Lam •10x •15love •180s •1921 Jeans There are more than 3000 brands that require GTIN. Requesting a GTIN Exemption You must submit a request to Amazon with the following information and documentation for a GTIN Exemption: 1. A support letter from brand owner, manufacturer, or publisher stating that no GTIN is provided for that product, or 2. A sample product title, images of the product from all sides plus packaging for the brand or publisher. Support Letter As soon as you provide the support letter, Amazon makes its decisions within 2 days from the receipt of letter. But you must ensure that it meets the following criteria: Faith eCommerce Services
