The main prerequisite required from any snack packaging material is that it should be grease proof, prevent rancidity, prevent from loss of crispness, provide physical strength and seal integrity. Different types of snacks along with their packaging techniques are mentioned below:-

  5. What goes into snack packaging? FOR FRIED SNACKS EXTRUDED AND PUFFED SNACKS: FOOD AND CEREAL BASED SNACKS They are required to be packaged in multi-layered structures and are sealed with an LDPE. For fried nuts, metal cans are used. Storage life of these fried snacks can be extended by using inert gas or vacuum in packaging. The most popular example of this category is popcorn. These puffed snacks can also be packed in the same packaging material, as the fried snacks. Packaging material used here is meant to provide a barrier to water vapour entry. This is done to avoid the development of stickiness.
