  1. Qualities and traits of a good teacher It is important to be a part of a good educational institution as education is considered to be the primary element in the life of an individual. Therefore, having good teachers and mentors helps the students to achieve good academic grades and sets the tone for their bright future. There are always some teachers that are considered to be the most favourite ones due to their teaching qualities and personality traits. Below are some of the qualities and traits of a teacher that makes them stand out among their colleagues.

  2. Qualities • Time allocation • Time allocation is important for the teacher as they must know how much time should be given to their students, and it depends upon their engagement with their students. Even though teachers don't spend more than eight hours in classes, however, teaching requires extra effort in order prepare the educational plans, organising meetings with the parents of their students, mentoring the weak children and correcting test papers. Hence, a good teacher always performs such duties on time and provides extra time to their students in order to understand their concerns.

  3. Age group affinity • Another quality of a good teacher is that they should be aware of the age group they are about to teach. For instance, the behaviour for a kindergarten student should be changed as compared to a primary or high school student. This requires sufficient skills, and the teachers must be capable of dealing with the students and their mentality. In addition to that, a good teacher knows how to tackle the naughty students as well and helps them to make a career for themselves. • Management style • A good manager is not always a good mentor or teacher. Likewise, a good teacher is not always a good manager. However, it is considered that one of the qualities that make teachers stand out among their colleagues is their management style. All of the teachers are working upon a similar objective of making their students shine, but their methods are different. This quality of a good teacher allows them to teach their students in an efficient manner to get their respective results.

  4. Positive association with parents • It is important for the teachers to have good relations with the parents of their students as it helps them to be aware of any medical condition that their children are suffering from. It is considered to be given and take relationship as the teacher also guides the parents about the weaknesses of their children. Both of these things eventually helps the students and guides them towards the right path. • Subject Knowledge • The most important quality of a good teacher is that they must have a good grasp of the subject they are going to teach. If the teacher is unable to understand the content itself, they cannot make their students understand. A good teacher is always the one who is considered to be the best at teaching their preferred subjects as it helps the students to understand the content much easier.

  5. Adaption capacity • In modern times, the teaching has changed just like any other profession. Therefore, it is the quality of a good teacher that he or she must adapt to the new learning techniques and methods in order to remain at the top of their profession. • Traits • Compassion • A compassionate teacher is always the favourite among the students. This trait allows them to be aware of the wellbeing of their students. Such teachers analyse the performance of their students and guide them to optimise it.

  6. Understanding • This is the most important trait of a good teacher as understanding the issues of their students not only helps them to perform well in the school but also allows the students to trust such teachers and mentors. • Engagement • There are a lot of students in a class that have different needs as per their nature and performance. Therefore, a teacher having such trait could help them to perform well in their academics. Some of the students require more engagement and attention as compared to others. Hence, a teacher engaging more with the students makes them a beneficial one for their student's careers.

  7. Appreciation • Appreciating the students is considered a very good trait that a teacher must possess. It helps to motivate the students and to boost their self-esteem. Positive encouragement and appreciation help the students to put an extra effort into their studies as it makes them feel happy to be recognised by their teachers. • Kindness • There are two types of teachers, a strict one and a kind one. The trait of a teacher being kind to their students is considered as important because it helps their students to trust them. The students hesitate to go to their strict teacher with academic queries. On the other hand, they love to discuss such queries with the kinder ones.
