  1. Increase the life span of your wooden floor with the wooden coatings www.liquiguard.com

  2. But for them to serve for a long time without losing their functional and aesthetic qualities, they certainly need protection. For a long time, the most common option for protective wooden coatingsfor wooden floors remained oil paint, but in recent years they have begun to widely use products that help emphasize the texture of wood, give it the desired shade, protect against various external influences. These include parquet oils, varnishes, waxes, and oil-wax mixtures. Varnishing Varnishes create a shiny film on the surface of the floor, so this option is not suitable for floors made of valuable wood, where it is important to emphasize the beauty of the texture.  But they perfectly hide small surface defects, fill small cracks and cracks, making the surface smoother. Cover the floors with Varnish: One- and two-component water-soluble. The first is short-lived, after 1.5-2 years of operation, recover the floor. The latter serve for a long time, but their cost is an order of magnitude higher. Ensure the attractive appearance of the coating when applying the compositions in conditions of a fairly high humidity level (at least 50%) and drying with the heating devices turned off. Alkyd. Characterized by prolonged drying but are well suited for surfaces that are often subject to temperature changes or mechanical loads. A good result is ensured by strict observance of consumption standards, avoiding heating and direct sunlight on the drying surface.

  3. Polyurethane. They have high wear resistance, suitable for floors with increased intensity of operation. When applying, there is a tendency to form bubbles, so the moisture content of the wood mustn't be more than 10%. Humidity should also not be high. Oil for wood Products based on natural oils do not form a film on the surface but are absorbed into the wood, due to which they give it moisture- and dirt-repellent properties, increase strength and wear resistance. The floor with such a coating does not become glossy, but remains velvety to the touch and acquires only a barely noticeable shine. The oil maximizes the texture of the wood, and if necessary, tones it in one of the natural shades. Thus, wood oil-based impregnations are best suited for those cases where it is necessary to preserve the natural appearance of the tree. In addition to the above, oils have another advantage - a completely environmentally friendly composition. They do not contain toxic substances and salts of heavy metals, so they are suitable even for processing children's furniture and toys. If it is necessary to update the coating, the varnish must be completely cleaned and reapplied in several layers, while to restore the oil coating, it is enough to remove dust and dirt from the surface and soak it with just one layer of oil. A feature of the floor with oil impregnation is the difficulty in care immediately after application: the surface must completely dry before being subjected to active use. As the composition dries and its penetration into the wood, care becomes problem-free.

  4. When oil should be preferred to varnish: • When covering floors in rooms with a high level of humidity, as well as with significant temperature changes. For example, in unheated cottages. • When covering floors in wooden buildings located in the open air: in gazebos, verandas. • If there is a "warm floor" system. • If the floor is made of exotic woods containing a large number of natural oils. • Wax and Oil wax mixture • Parquet wax mix with oil impregnation, in which case the floor looks beautiful. It perfectly protects the surface from dirt and moisture, protects wood from rotting, shrinkage, and other destructive processes associated with atmospheric influences. But wax is not adapted for intense load, so it is not suitable as an independent floor covering. That is why for the treatment of parquet it is often recommended to use oil-wax mixtures for the floor or oil with solid wax. • They allow you to use all the advantages of both wax and oils for wood: emphasize the texture of wood, provide it with high resistance to mechanical and biological damage, abrasion, and contamination. • Whatever coating for the wooden floor you choose, remember that even you can protect the treated wood from temperature changes, moisture, and excessively dry air. • Like this, you can also use leather protection coating to maintain your most cherished leather items for a long time.
