  2. Bathroom Design T H E O P T I O N S One of the rooms used most often by people at home is the bathroom. While spending a lot of money on what is usually one of the smallest rooms in the house may not be high on everyone’s list, since everyone uses this room quite often, a bathroom design project can make the experience more pleasurable whilst also possibly adding more value to your home. There are different ways to improve the appearance and functionality of this small sanctuary, and a new bathroom design does not have to put a dent in your bank account. Unless the bathroom is in dire need of extensive renovations, a bathroom design project can be done on a tight budget. Many times, simple things can offer a vast improvement in its appearance, such as a new curtain rod, shower curtain, or even a shiny new toilet bin. Changing out the taps on the sink and bath, as well as the shower head can make the bathroom look much better. A shower head with a pulse can even make an inexpensive bathroom redesign job seem as though more work was actually performed. If your bathroom rack is broken or non-existent, purchasing a new one with a shiny chrome finish can be done for under £30, and can add to the overall appearance. Putting fresh new towels on a new towel rail in the same colour scheme as the rest of the room is one simple change that can make a difference.

  3. More Extensive Means  More Expensive If you’re looking at a more extensive bathroom design project, plan on spending more money. A fresh coat of paint can brighten up an otherwise dull room, but making sure the walls are in good condition can take time. There may even be a need to add lighting to the bathroom, and those who use makeup will appreciate having sufficient lighting to see the effects of their efforts. Look at the floor as seen from the entry door and if necessary, consider changing the floor material. Today’s laminate flooring offers options for use in the bathroom, and can make a good initial impact when entering the room. It should also lead the eyes to the opposite wall, and a picture or two can help dress up the bathroom. Tearing down walls and moving plumbing can be an expensive project and the homeowner needs to make sure the change is being made out of necessity, and not simply for the sake of change. By keeping any bathroom design project within budget, while making the required changes, will ensure the project goes much faster and smoother without unnecessary stress.

  4. BATHROOM Design Advice

  5. When most homeowners begin to talk about renovating their bathroom, the most common piece of bathroom design advice you get is to hire an expert to do the job. That is not to say that you are incapable of doing most of the work, but rather when redesigning a bathroom many hidden problems may come up that will make the job that looked so easy to do, seem difficult. By hiring someone who is experienced in doing the job, as well as overcoming unexpected obstacles, costs can be contained and the process can run smoother. Choosing to do the job on your own can save money, but the labour and stress, when confronted by the unknown, can be more costly than the job itself. Additionally, when your friends and family get wind of what you are doing, you can be guaranteed of receiving a lot of bathroom design advice, most of it unsolicited. However, many people may have experience with this sort of work, so accepting the design advice may save time over the course of the project. Before falling foul to some of the unsolicited advice, consider the source. If the person has been through a similar project, you might have something useful to offer. However, if you have never performed any type of home design work, their advice may be simply to hire someone to do the job.

  6. Before beginning any major undertaking in the bathroom, be sure to look at many different bathroom designs to find the one that fits your house and your family. Many magazines feature tons of different styles for bathrooms, but unfortunately, not everyone has a bathroom larger than their garage. Some of the bathroom designs can be downsized to fit into many houses, but basing plans on a magazine picture can be misleading, as your bathroom will not look the same. The biggest problem with published bathroom designs, is that they do not fit all spaces. While many may be close to the same size, there are some that are made for extra-large rooms. Including a standard bathtub along with a Jacuzzi and double or triple sinks may look good in a photo, but in reality, will not fit into many homes. Unless the house being worked on has the same size bathroom, it will simply stay a dream. Cutting down on size can possibly help fit some of the ideas into a smaller space, but the overall outcome will be different. There is, however, computer software that allows you to enter the room dimensions and add different options to get a good idea of how it will look in your home.

  7. Bathroom Design Rules You want to remodel your bathroom because it looks outdated, and you are not particularly fond of the overall look and feel of it. With so many things that need to be changed, you have no idea where to begin. In order to get things done efficiently, stick to these three simple rules.. #1 #2 #3 START KEEP BUY WITH A BLANK CANVAS DECORATION TO A MINIMUM THE BEST YOU CAN AFFORD

  8. From the annoying rubber duck to the chrome toilet roll holder that has now started rusting, the first thing that you need to do is get rid of everything that annoys you about your bathroom. Start with a completely empty space. By doing this, not only do you minimise clutter, but you also have the opportunity to clearly visualise the things that you would like to replace. #1 The bathroom s supposed to be a place where you can collect yourself, gather your thoughts and in this day and age, browse on your smartphone. However, this becomes harder to do when your bathroom is as cluttered as the regular rooms of your house. An important bathroom design step to take when shopping for bathroom accessories is to keep everything at a minimum. #2 When you have more of an idea as to what you want to place in your bathroom, it is important that you choose materials that are of an above average quality. The reason for this is that they last longer. You might think that a low price on materials is too good to be true, and it usually is! The higher the price, the more durable the material. #3

  9. Considering the order of your design project When looking at redesigning your bathroom, it must first be determined which bathroom products will be replaced. Especially if the homeowner is doing the work, deciding the order of the job progress before beginning can save time and money over the life of the project. For example, if the floor is going to be replaced, it should probably be done first to prevent damage to the cabinets, bath, tile and sink. If the floor is done last, the other items may have to be taken out to get the floor done, adding to the project time.  Measure twice and cut once Whenever working on a design project, double check all measurements before ordering any bathroom products. It is always best to draw a floor plan and enter the measurements of even the smallest areas to ensure that the bathroom products will fit into the existing space. If there are plans to remove part of a wall or a larger cabinet, do not try to guess the size. Drawing the plans and measuring accurately will save a lot of time and additional stress during the project. Unless planning to immediately sell the home once the project is complete, there should be no concern about what the new owners may think, avoid using low-quality bathroom products during the project. It may be cheaper, but there is a good chance they will need replacing sooner rather than later.
