  1. Social Determinants of Health in Healthcare Industry Most people are familiar with the phrase "health care is a human right". Health care professionals, social workers, doctors, nurses, and more are privy to the distressing lack of support that many Americans have for their health. Several factors play into this distressful reality related to social determinants of health in the healthcare industry. For example, many Americans do not have access to a?ordable health care insurance. This leaves them in a precarious position where they may not be able to access appropriate or even necessary treatments. Other social determinants such as homelessness and poverty can also factor into the quality of someone’s health. Healthcare is Broken - Here's How to Fix It The need for healthcare is increasing at an alarming rate worldwide. The number of people with chronic diseases has grown to more than half of the world's population. And medical costs are growing like never before. There’s no one solution to solve this problem, but there are steps we can take right now to make a di?erence. One way is to create a diverse workforce that reflects the real world and brings in new ideas and creativity. Healthcare should

  2. be more than just treatment - it should also be prevented, like education and outreach programs, healthy living initiatives, healthy food options, smoking cessation programs, exercise opportunities, and more. Healthcare should also promote entrepreneurship by creating venture funds that would invest in start-ups that could improve healthcare systems or deliver new treatments or technologies for patients with chronic diseases. Artificial Intelligence is being applied everywhere, and it's no di?erent in healthcare. The advancements and use of AI in the healthcare industry can lead to a better future for the healthcare industry. Why Does Social Determinant Matters? How awareness of the social determinants of health among the general population can be a factor in improving health outcomes. Social determinants of health are a major factor in how people live and the state of their health, but they have been largely ignored by most governments and policy-makers. It is not only about the availability of medical care, but also about education, income, employment status, housing, and other social factors that a?ect our lives. What are the Risk Factors for Poor Health? Risk factors for poor health include smoking, diet, and physical activity. Smoking can lead to lung cancer and other related illnesses. Diet a?ects weight and the risk of developing diabetes. Physical activity has a direct impact on cholesterol and blood sugar levels, both of which a?ect heart disease and type 2 diabetes risks. There are many di?erent risk factors for poor health including diet, smoking, physical activity levels, etc. Smoking can cause lung cancer as well as other diseases like COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Diet impacts the risk of developing diabetes or high blood pressure. The lack of physical activity a?ects cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, and your capacity to prevent heart disease or diabetes type 2. How to Improve Healthcare Industry with Social Determinants Improving health care in the United States is an expensive and daunting task. On average, the country spends $10,000 per person on healthcare. That's more than any other developed country in the world spends on healthcare. It is also di?cult to measure how well the healthcare system is performing in comparison to other countries because of how it's funded and because of di?erent reporting systems.
