  1. How do you make an outsourcing decision? Is outsourcing the right decision? The process of outsourcing is attractive because it can help companies reduce costs, save money and achieve business goals. In outsourcing, as in many other areas of business decision making, there are always several factors to consider. In this article, we’re going to talk about the things to consider before you start outsourcing some of your business functions. This can also help business owners become more enlightened especially when it comes to deciding whether their business requires to outsource. Here are some guidelines you should follow before outsourcing your projects and efforts. Consider the costs and benefits of outsourcing The outsourcing of business functions is quickly becoming a common practice among companies in all industries. This outsourcing of services may take many forms, but what it really comes down to is that one company provides a service to another company at an agreed-upon price and time frame. While outsourcing may be the most effective way for a business to reduce expenses, improve its competitive edge, increase profits and cash flow, it is important to keep in mind that outsourcing can have both positive and negative impacts on your business. Outsourcing has become commonplace globally- with more than 50% of US businesses outsourcing work offshore today- according to outsourcing research firm Gartner. Outsourcing is a common practice nowadays, with businesses outsourcing functions to companies in low-cost countries in Asia and Eastern Europe. When outsourcing certain business processes there are various benefits and risks that should be considered. These include savings through outsourcing, operational factors, legal protection and security. Consider the costs and benefits of outsourcing before starting any outsourcing program: you might find it more beneficial to not outsource at all.

  2. Identify what you want to outsource and why Evaluate your options. What outsourcing opportunities are available? Do you need to send employees overseas, or would outsourcing domestically be more cost-effective and time- efficient? Once you have a handle on the scope of what outsourcing can do for you, decide whether to outsource only certain tasks (such as payroll processing) or your entire operation. Know what type of work you want to outsource so that you can find a company with the right skillset Outsourcing can involve various disciplines: from developing software applications, testing embedded systems on actual target platforms for mobile phones/tablet devices, back-office accounting work like finance and accounting; to customer service functions like call centres and tech support. Modern outsourcing includes a wider range of management and outsourcing services than ever before. Business process outsourcing contracts differ from other types of outsourcing agreements in that they are often very complex and generally require substantial customization to meet the specific requirements of the organization seeking proper protection through the use of an outsource contract rather than a less formal outsourcing agreement. Business process outsourcing contracts also often include a combination of outsourcing services such as clerical, financial, information technology (IT), and other administrative business processes. Be clear on what tasks will be outsourced, how much time they take up, and how often they need to be completed Outsourced projects have an abysmal track record of success, but it's not for lack of trying on behalf of businesses. In fact, outsourcing has been around since ancient times and was once successfully used by Henry Ford in his quest to ramp up production for the Model T automobile. So what went wrong? More often than not, it comes down to poor planning and ineffective management—and outsourcing communication is usually where things go awry. If your business is outsourcing work to another country, it's vital you don't lose sight of what you need and want.

  3. Outsourcing can make significant improvements to a company's efficiency. But knowing when to outsource in the first place, and how best to do so, require careful consideration. Determine if there are any legal implications for outsourcing It is important to determine if any legal implications arise from outsourcing to these different providers. Assuming that a decision has been made on outsourcing, it is time for the next step in outsourcing which is choosing an outsourcing solution. Know the terms of service before signing anything with an outsourcer By outsourcing, a job is given to someone who is not an employee of the organization. The outsourcing firm completes a task or project under its own management and according to its standards. Outsourcing firms may be independent companies with whom your organization has contracted for outsourcing services. A good outsourcing agreement will balance costs, expectations and any possible risks involved in outsourcing - Cultural differences, language barriers etc are some of the aspects that can be evaluated to mitigate their effects on outsourcing projects.
