The Department routinely performs complex interventional procedures. Beyond coronaries, Temporary and Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Cardiac Resynchronisation procedures, AICD (Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator) Implantation and procedures for peripheral vascular diseases are also offered to patients needing the same. SIDDHANT TREHAN MBBS, DNB, DM (Cardiology) A heart attack is a serious, fatal medical condition where the heart muscle dies as it does not receive appropriate amount of blood. It is also called a myocardial infarction. Commonly the occlusion occurs due to plaque rupture and clot formation. The longer the muscle remains without blood, the more damage is caused. Untreated heart attacks can lead to permanent heart damage and even result in death. DR. SUDHANSHU GARG MBBS, MD, DM (Cardiology) Common symptoms of heart attack: ★Chest pain or arm pain ★Persistent heartburn or indigestion ★Severe anxiety ★Shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing ★Nausea and dizziness ★Excessive sweating If patient has experienced any of these symptoms, then immediate medical attention is required. Heart attack is commonly diagnosed by non invasive testing like ECG, Cardiac biomarkers (Blood test) and 2D echocardiography. For Management point of view, heart attack needs immediate attention by cardiologist and treatment includes urgent angiography followed by angioplasty. Primary Angioplasty for Myocardial infarction (Heart attack) is preferred treatment for STEMI (Heart Attack) worldwide. Immediate treatment reduces heart muscle damage and improves future outcome especially quality of life. So, don’t ignore your chest pain.
