  1. Maxim Poon Wong - How To Encourage Positive Behavior For Disabled People The goal of every person involved in caring for someone with disabilities is to help them achieve their highest level of independence says, Maxim Poon Wong. However, that can be difficult to achieve alone. In addition to tangible skills, social behavior can also need to be corrected, encouraged, or redirected. A caregiver has the responsibility of recognizing when a client has become too withdrawn, or overly dependent on the caregiver. This means that they must take the necessary steps to restore positive behavior, increase their independence, and ultimately restore an active, healthy, and quality lifestyle as much as possible. Caretakers and home health professionals will benefit from the following outline by being able to recognize when their clients are regressing into antisocial or negative behavior. Additionally, techniques are provided to assist clients in overcoming negative behaviors. Watch For Behavioral Indicators Lack of focus on tasks such as taking care of yourself, watching television, or interacting with others. Lack of attention when speaking to others. Not interested in eating meals or conversing with others. Those who live with loved ones may be exposed to fewer socializing activities, causing them to become more sensitive or resistant to new experiences. Having a hard time leaving the house. Staying indoors. Feeling uncomfortable even walking or taking a short drive.

Lack of interest in school work is an indication of deeper problems. Watch for signs that indicate a loss of interest in work, hobbies, sports, or favorite activities as an adult. Participating in sporting events is an excellent way to foster healthy interaction with others. Occasionally a vase of flowers, a new magazine, or an indulgence in a favorite meal or dessert can rekindle that joyous feeling. According to Maxim Poon Wong, as a caregiver, seeing someone recover from negative behavior to a positive and happy way of life is as rewarding for you as it is for the person with a disability.
