Independent living It means that disabled people have the right to practical support and assistance to live an ordinary life at home, at work, and in the community. According to the Independent Living in Scotland project, independent living is about all disabled people having the same freedom, choice, dignity, and control as other citizens. Day Opportunities In its recommendations for local authorities, it recommended that day centers should become resource centers, rather than mere daycare centers. Instead, it recommended that nobody should attend a day center full-time, but that instead, they should use it as a platform from which to find and take part in activities in the wider community.
