Since then it has been exported and manufactured in numerous countries around the World. Kit Kat bars were introduced to Japan in 1973. In Japan Kit Kat is called キットカット (kitto katto) and it sounds very similar to きっと勝つ (kitto katsu) which means "You Will Win".  For this reason, Kit Kat bars in Japan are seen as a good luck charms and are often given to students before tests or to family and friends when they are needing extra luck. Each year Kit Kat Japan releases new flavors of Kit Kat's nationwide while also making regional variants for certain areas of Japan. Like Mt. Fuji design Kit Kat's which are only sold new Mt. Fuji.  The Green Tea Kit Kat was once a limited release Kit Kat in Japan but proved immensly popular so much so that it now has become one of the standard Kit Kat flavors in Japan along with the plain flavor and strawberry flavor.
