  2. June 6th, 1944: Brought together the greatest invasion force of land, sea, and air forces in the history of mankind. • A. Codenamed Overlord, this invasion targeted 5 different beaches (Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword) in Normandy, France.

  3. B. The invasion force included over 7,000 ships and landing craft, manned by over 195,000 naval personnel from eight allied countries.

  4. C. Included in this fleet were 9 battleships, 23 cruisers, 104 destroyers, and 71 large landing craft.

  5. Approximately 133,000 troops from the U.S., Canada, and England landed that first day and they suffered 10,300 casualties. • By June 30th, over 850,000 men 148 vehicles, and 570,000 tons of materials had landed in Normandy which signaled the end of the Nazi Regime in less than 1 year.
