  2. MISSION • To coordinate all communication interactions between Project Phidisa • internal and external stakeholders. We will build mutual understanding • and awareness by: • Supporting implementation of Project Phidisa objectives • Administering Corporate Communication functions at DMCOC • Developing information materials to support recruitment efforts • Developing information that builds specific understanding of the nature of the study and its progress

STATUS SUMMARY • Communication coordination faces many challenges but is making progress • Communication coordinated the launch on the 1st of December 2003 – and the successful opening of two sites on 19 January 2004 • This Project received an overwhelming positive response from the media and the public as well as the intended SANDF stakeholders (who are our potential volunteers)

  4. CONTRIBUTIONS 2003/2004 • The DMCOC Communication Section has contributed to the progress of the project in the following ways: • Training SANDF Corp Communicators • Arranging visits for defence dignitaries • Embarking on one-on-one presentations • Developing publications

ATTENTION AREAS Redevelop and maintain the current public website and develop a website for internal communications among Project Phidisa members Identify and possibly hire a content manager for both websites (Public and internal Internet) Use available SANDF communication vehicles for messages targeted to potential volunteers Identify information needs of Operational Groups and develop internal newsletter targeted to those needs Coordinate the opening of 2 Military Hospital and Health Centre Umtata Coordinate and compile the Project Phidisa 1st Annual journal

SCHEDULE Identify and possibly hire website content manager/newsletter coordinator – Sept 04 Redevelop public website and develop internal website – Aug - Dec 04 Put Project Phidisa messages in existing SANDF publications – start in Sept 04 Refine and develop Project Phidisa internal newsletter – Oct 04 Coordinate openings of Project Phidisa clinics at 2 Military Hospital and Health Centre Umtata – 6 Sept 04 and 4 Oct 04 Coordinate journal report – Sept - Dec 04
