  1. HOW TO PLAY 3 CARD POKER If you’re looking to learn how to play 3 Card Poker or to play it more optimally, you’re in the right place. We’ll break down what 3 Card Poker is, how to play, and why it’s one of the best casino games to pick up. What Is 3 Card Poker? 3 Card Poker is a simple poker variation where you only get dealt three cards in total and play against the house. It’s really easy to learn, so makes a great game for beginners. How To Play 3 Card Poker To start, the player places an ante wager and/or a pair plus wager, betting that they will have a hand of at least a pair or better. Three cards are then dealt face down to each player and to the dealer. You are only playing the dealer and not other players at the table. The player will then look at his hand and determine to place a play wager (equal to the amount they put as the ante wager) to pit his hand against the dealer’s hand or not. Optimum strategy says the player should “play” all hands greater than Queen, Six and Four and fold all hands worse. If a player folds, the hand is over and the dealer will collect the player's ante wager and pair plus wager. If the player places a play wager, the cards will be turned over to determine if the player has a better hand than the dealer. If the dealer has a hand of Jack-high or worse, the play wager is returned to the player. If the dealer has a hand of Queen-high or better, both the play wager and the ante are paid out at 1 to 1 if the player has a better hand than the dealer. If the dealer’s hand is superior, both the ante and play bets are collected. The pair plus bet is determined completely independent to what the dealer has. Card Poker Rules The rules of 3 Card Poker couldn’t be simpler. You only have two options to choose from after being dealt cards: Play and Fold. You will forfeit your cards and your Ante bet if you decide to fold. You won’t be able to win the hand, even if the dealer has a very weak hand. When it comes to comparing hands in 3 Card Poker, it’s clear that some hands, such as full houses and four of a kind, don’t exist in this variation of the game. Card Poker Strategy

  2. 3 Card Poker is a very simple game which means there’s not too much you can do in terms of strategy. In fact, your only concern should be which cards to keep and which to discard. Traditionally, the optimal strategy for the game is to keep any hand that has at least a Q 6 4 in it while discarding everything weaker than this. Apart from that, there are no special or fancy plays you should remember, other than the fact that the Pair Plus bet is not a negative EV one compared to the Ante bet, as jackpot bets often are in poker games. Card Poker Payouts The Pair Plus wager acts independently of ante-play. Players win with any pair or better or lose the bet if dealt a High Card hand. The dealer's hand does not affect the outcome of Pair Plus hands. You don't have to beat the dealer. Winners are paid according to a pay table posted on the table or online on the screen. Though these can differ from casino-to-casino and place-to-place, here are the standard Three Card Poker odds used for Pair Plus payouts typically used in America, along with select payout variations used: Three Card Poker Online Three Card Poker is a popular table game in live casinos. In the United States, it's the third most played game in the table pits, trailing only blackjack and craps. More money is wagered on baccarat, which attracts big bettors, but Three Card Poker has more players. Naturally enough, online casinos have picked up on the popularity, and Three Card Poker has become a standard offering. Instead of physical cards and chips, virtual representations are used. Some casinos use streams of live dealers distributing cards, but usually, virtual cards appear on the screen. A random number generator determines hands. But at its core, Three Card Poker is the same in live and online games. The odds, house edges and strategies are the same online as in live casinos. Where To Play 3 Card Poker Online Where To Play 3 Card Poker Online The game of 3 Card Poker is quite a popular poker variation, mostly because of its simple rules and strategy, so you should be able to find it at most poker rooms.
