Radon The Silent Killer

Radon is a naturally occurring gas that is colorless, odorless, tasteless. The gas is radioactive and is a byproduct of the breakdown of uranium, thorium, or radium. The best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is to limit or minimize your exposure to the high concentrations of Radon.

  2. TABLE OF CONTENT • What is Radon? • Countries that are affected by radon • Effects of radon on health • Lung cancer caused by radon • An eye-opener • Here is the solution Add a short description

  3. What is RADON Radon is a radioactive gas that forms naturally when uranium, thorium, or radium, which are radioactive metals break down in rocks, soil and groundwater. People can be exposed to radon primarily from breathing radon in air that comes through cracks and gaps in buildings and homes. Because radon comes naturally from the earth, people are always exposed to it.

  4. COUNTRIES WHICH ARE AFFECTED BY RADON • Norway: (is recorded to set the highest level of indoor radon) • Europe • Canada • America • France • Germany Add a short description

  5. EFFECTS OF RADON ON HEALTH Radon is a major cause of lung cancer. It is estimated that radon causes between 3% to 14% of all lung cancers in a country, depending on the national average radon level and the smoking prevalence. Breathing radon for long term can cause long-term health issues. Add a short description

  6. LUNG CANCER CAUSED BY RADON 87% 16% 13% • Cases Of Cancer • Cases Of Lung Cancer • Caused By • Radon

  7. AN EYE-OPENER Overall, Health Canada estimates that approximately 7% of homes have high levels of radon. Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking, accounting for 16% of lung cancer deaths, or 3,200 deaths in Canada, annually. Manitoba, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and the Yukon had the highest percentages of participant homes which tested above the radon guideline. Add a short description

  8. HERE IS THE SOLUTION Radon testing can be done by purchasing a home testing kit or having professional testing done on your home. When left unchecked, radon gas can slip into a home’s air and water supply, increasing the risks of lung cancer for occupants. Get a proper mitigation system installed now.
