7. HISTORY To begin with, the university started functioning in Madras in 1946. First, jntua was affiliated with the Madras University from 1946- 1955. Further, it was affiliated with Sri Venkateswara University from 1955-1972. Later, it started functioning in Anantapur in 1948. However, it was functioning as JNTU, Hyderabad.
