You can get married in NSW in a calendar month as long as you have completed a Notice of Intended Marriage, had it signed by an appropriate witness, and given the paperwork to a celebrant or submitted the paperwork at the registry office. The current requirements to get married, at the date of publication, are: - Download the marriage application - Notice of Intended Marriage - Complete this form and print it out. - Make a copy of each of your identification documents. - Take your NOIM to an authorised witness - a Doctor, Lawyer, Justice of the Peace, or Police Officer & sign it in their presence. (NOTE: A Pharmacist is NOT authorised to witness a Notice of Intended Marriage form) - Email signed and witnessed Notice of Intended Marriage NSW & ID to us. You can the documents or simply take a photo of them. Who Can Get Married To get married in NSW you must: Not be married to someone else Not be marrying a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling (brother or sister)

  2. Be at least 18 years of age, unless a person aged between 16 and 18 years of age has court approval to marry Understand what marriage means and freely consent to marrying At least 1 month before the date you plan to marry (but not more than 18 months), lodge a Notice of Intended Marriage with an authorised celebrant or minister Include words required by law in the ceremony and be married by a registered marriage celebrant or minister of religion Provide an original birth certificate or passport in English, or an official translation of the document from another language. If either person has been previously married you must provide: A divorce certificate, if divorced or A full death certificate, if widowed.
