Diabetology is the division of medicine which study and treat diabetes mellitus. A Diabetologist is a doctor who concentrates on providing proper care to victims with diabetic issues.

  2. Diabetology Diabetology is the branch of medicine dedicated to the study and treatment of diabetes mellitus. A Diabetologist is an Endocrinologist who has received special training and experience in this field.

Diabetologist & Endocrinologist • Diabetology is the division of medicine which study and treat diabetes mellitus • Diabetologists are the physicians who treat only diabetic patients. • Endocrinology is the science of glands and hormones. • Endocrinologists are the physicians who specialized in endocrinology and treat the disease which affect on the endocrine organs.

Types of Diabetes • Type 2 diabetes - the most common form of diabetes in adults • Type 1 diabetes - the most common diabetes type of diabetes diagnosed in children • Gestational diabetes - a form of diabetes that can occur specifically during pregnancy • Prediabetes - an early form of type 2 diabetes

Other Types of Diabetes • Steroid induced diabetes - a form of type 2 diabetes which can be brought on by longer term usage of corticosteroids • Type 3 diabetes - Alzheimer’s disease has been referred to as type 3 diabetes by some researchers because insulin resistance appears to play a role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease • Double diabetes - refers to when someone has both type 1 and type 2 diabetes at the same time • Brittle diabetes - refers to type 1 diabetes that is particularly hard to control or predict

  6. Treatments for Diabetes The goal of diabetes management is to keep blood glucose levels as close to normal as safely possible. Since diabetes may greatly increase risk for heart disease and peripheral artery disease, measures to control blood pressure and cholesterol levels are an essential part of diabetes treatment as well.
