  1. How Obesity Can Affect Sperm Quality? 519.650.0011 info@onefertilitykw.com

  2. Obesity and Sperm Quality Male fertility issues can be caused by various factors such as genetics, lifestyle choices, and health conditions, including obesity. Excess weight can negatively impact sperm formation and the DNA of the sperm, leading to male infertility. Obesity is associated with health conditions like heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and cancer.

  3. Relationship Between Weight and Sperm Quality: Even being 20 pounds over the average weight increases the risk of fertility issues by 10%. Obesity affects testosterone levels, leading to erectile dysfunction, low sex drive, and impaired sperm production. Increased leptin production and hormonal imbalances from excess fat cells further contribute to infertility. Studies have shown that weight loss improves sperm health and quantity. Testosterone deficiency and hormone imbalances can be improved with a decrease in BMI.

  4. Tips for Promoting Healthy Sperm Lower BMI by reducing processed carbohydrates, sugary foods, and animal fats. Increase consumption of fruits, vegetables, healthy fats, lean meats, and foods high in omega-3 fatty acids. Consider recommended supplements to enhance sperm quality and quantity. Regular exercise, at least three 30-minute activities per week, supports sperm count production. Manage stress through fertility counseling to support healthy sperm production. A study by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine recommends a diet rich in whole grains, fish, nuts, fruits, and vegetables. Antioxidant supplements may also help reduce high BMI and improve sperm quality.
