  3. Arthroscopic Surgery Arthroscopic knee surgery is a surgical procedure in which a small camera (arthroscope) is inserted into the knee joint. Usually arthroscopic knee surgery in Singapore is viewed on a monitor so that the whole operating team is aware of the type of surgical procedure that is being performed. Arthroscopes are approximately 5 mm in diameter, so the incisions are very small (approximately 1/8 inch). Arthroscopy is much less traumatic to the muscles, ligaments, and tissues than the traditional method of performing “open” surgery with long incisions (arthrotomy).

  4. Joint Replacement Joint Replacement Surgery In Singapore Arthritis of the joints can result in pain and functional difficulty. In some severe cases, patients are unable to walk even short distances. Medication, injections, and joint cleaning procedures such as arthroscopy often do not provide an optimal function or adequate pain relief. Joint Replacement surgery has become the standard of care for this group of conditions in Singapore and worldwide. The goal is to relieve the pain in the joint caused by the damage done to the cartilage. The pain may be so severe, a person will avoid using the joint, weakening the muscles around the joint and making it even more difficult to move the joint.

  5. Cartilage Repair As our bodies age, the water content in our cartilage will decrease – which makes it vulnerable to various knee injuries. Find out more about cartilage issues and repair treatments at OrthoSports centre by reading on. The anterior cruciate ligament or ACL is one of the most common injured ligaments of the knee, especially in sports such as basketball and football at all ages. The ACL stabilizes the knee for cutting, twisting and jumping and pivoting activity. The anterior cruciate ligament is in the centre of the knee joint. When you tear an ACL due to cartilage damage, you will often feel or hear a pop. You will also feel the knee shift out of place and develop significant swelling in just a few hours.

  6. Frozen Shoulder Frozen shoulder is a common problem affecting patients in their early forties and onwards. It can come on after even a seemingly minor injury, in many cases, in seems to just start for no apparent reason. It is slightly more common in patients who have diabetes. The symptoms start initially with a period of weeks to months of increasingly severe shoulder pain. These symptoms are particularly severe at night, affecting sleep. The pain is often worsened by sudden movements, and it may sometimes be difficult to find a comfortable position. During this period, the shoulder joint is undergoing a process of inflammation, resulting in pain. After a period of time, the pain continues, but starts to give way to a process of scarring and stiffening of the shoulder movements, the so-called “freezing” stage.

  7. Sports Injuries Sports Injuries In Singapore The anterior cruciate ligament or ACL is one of the most common injured ligaments of the knee, it is prone to sports injuries for both competitive and recreational sportsmen in Singapore. The ACL stabilizes the knee for cutting, twisting and jumping and pivoting activity in sports. The anterior cruciate ligament is in the centre of the knee joint. Find out more about ACL injuries in Singapore by reading on. When you tear an ACL when playing sports, you will often feel or hear a pop. You will also feel the knee shift out of place and develop significant swelling in just a few hours. Initial treatment to these injuries should consist of ice to the knee, leg elevation and crutches. A sports physician, orthopaedic surgeon or physiotherapist in Singapore should evaluate the injury.
