  2. Why YouTube? • YouTube is a great site to find videos and clips: o How To’s o Current event coverage • Entertainment Media: Music videos, clips from Movies, TV-shows, amateur videos,

  3. Why YouTube? • It’s Free! • You don’t need an account, but it’s easy (and free) to create one • Easy to navigate • Videos can be tagged with keywords • Easy to search for videos • Upload public or private videos

  4. Features and ButtonsMain Search box is located on top of YouTube page Across the top are links for Home, Videos, Channels, and Shows

  5. Features and Buttons • As you scroll down the Homepage, you will find the categories Featured, Recommended, and Popular Videos

  6. Searching for a Video • Type a keyword into main search box, hit search • All videos that have that keyword will appear, ranked according to relevance • Click on the one you wish to watch • Video window will appear and play on its own • Use controls in the video player to pause, play, or scroll through the video • Related videos appear on the right hand side of the screen

  7. Creating a YouTube Account • Have a valid email account ready • Go to youtube.com • Click on Create Account in upper right hand corner

Creating a You-Tube Account • Choose a username (your name, or something more creative) • Complete the online form • Type in email address and choose a password • complete word verification as instructed • You will be sent an email to verify and activate your account • Check your e-mail, you MUST click the link to verify • Start searching!

Creating a Playlist • Find a video • Directly below the video are links, including:Favorites, Share, Playlists, and Flag • Click Playlist • Create a desired folder name to organize the videos • Click Add • You can make new folders and add videos to each playlist made • Mark videos as Favorites and they will be saved as such

  10. YouTube for Academic Purposes • You may use the LLC’s username and password for classes within the department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Username: MuhlenbergLanguages Password:mulesllc
