1. Lifelong companions in the Gambling Commission Nick: When I started at the Commission, I was a newly qualified attorney and joined as a junior member of staff. Since then, I have gained significant experience and been promoted to Senior Counsel, where I now lead a team of three other attorneys. Although I did not work directly in other departments, in a support role, I worked closely with almost every department of the Commission on one or two occasions on a wide range of legal issues and cases.

2. During your time here, have you worked in different roles or departments or worked on any defined projects that have taken you away from your substantive role? Satta king • Richard: I have worked in different areas of the Commission in various roles and projects. I started in Compliance and have been a Compliance Manager for just over five years, that role was very varied and I can honestly say it was not a dull day. It sounds cliche but it's true. This feature took me to places and situations where other regulators would never have taken my time. I received the full support of my colleagues and the Commission every step of the way. • During that role, I was involved in a number of projects to raise industry standards and assist colleagues from outside organisations to help us achieve the 3 licensing goals. They also gave me all the support, up to the Executive Director level, to develop a project that I had started. As Compliance Manager, I identified a way to reduce staff security and crime issues at gaming facilities. Never before have I been supported and encouraged to think as I have in the Commission. 4. In line with that, I am currently involved in a project that I have been heavily involved in while working with other teams. I am now part of the Strategy, but have been supported and encouraged to take a big step forward in protecting customers from harm in the online gaming space. I joined the policy administration team, which gave me an insight into the world of policy development. I loved everything about it and found the career I was looking for. I worked my way up from administrator to senior manager in policy development, developing my regulatory experience in a variety of topics such as lotteries, online gaming, consumer protection, and am now a gaming advertising specialist. As part of my role, I have worked with a wide range of organisations from trade associations, regulators to consumer groups. The most challenging and worthwhile project I have ever undertaken has resulted in major changes and improved standards in the way the gaming industry has treated its customers, particularly in relation to promotional offers. satta result
