Innovative Heat and Electricity generation • 1987 – installation of a gas-fuelled power plant to simultaneously generate heat and electricity for office buildings and workshops • 2006 – installation of a heating plant fuelled with waste dunnage wood in Bremerhaven • 2007 – installation of 14 heat pumps for small remote buildings – e.g. at truckers check-in-points • 2007 – deliberate analyses of wind mill installation in Bremerhaven -> outweighted by noise reduction and safety • 2008 – wood fuelled heating plant in Hamburg Environmental Achievements at Eurogate

Automotive engineering • Reducing 30% of fuel demand by technology shift from diesel hydraulic to diesel electric motors – in 2006 to 2008: annual CO2-reduction of 21,000t • Investment in further research towards • Improved hybrid straddle carriers for better energy recuperation from braking the vehicle or dropping the container • development of a hydrogen powered vehicle • Investment in development of a rope-way container transportation as a new generation of internal container transport systems within the port • Present investigation programme on fuel reduction by deliberate driving methods Environmental Achievements at Eurogate
