  3. General Tendency of IEEE membership • People can easily get information through internet. • The difference of registration fee between non- and member students is $15. IEEE+one society $42. ## of membership in IEEE most societies 2003 2004 2005 Why people are losing interest to be membership?

  4. Membership Transition ## of membership

  5. Analysis • Activities in RAS local chapter are increasing. Robot Contest, WS… • We still have a boom in robot in worldwide level. ex: paper submission: ICRA00 less than 1000, ICRA04:1300, 1CRA05:1700, ICRA06:1750… Why RAS is keeping the # of membership, while other societies are losing?

  6. Membership Transition • School of Robotic Science • Bundle Registration • Chapter Support • Educational Committee • Student Activities Board Committee • Two New Student Chapters

  7. School of Robotics Science 2005 • Organizers: Yoshihiko Nakamura (The Univ. of Tokyo) Mark Cutkosky (Stanford Univ.) • Main Topics Robot Design • Venue: University of Tokyo • Date: September • 18-23, 2005
