  1. WHAT THINGS TO DO WHEN ADDING A ROOMMATE Adding a roommate is not complicated to find or adjust with them, but it’s very difficult to how you ask to the landlord. Adding a roommate will help to get low your rent & get easier to maintain your home or room. But sometimes it will become a mess to find the right roommate for you and also adjust with them if your roommate is a stranger for you. So it is better to find roommate yourself or you can ask to your friends or colleagues to join you as roommates. But you should clearly tell them about the rents and other features of a room or home, please be fair with your mates. LANDLORD'S APPROVAL Before asking or writing to your landlord let them know about your wish to adding roommate, so it is better to check your lease. Your agreement will usually contain the clause about occupancy limits, so make sure that adding roommate will not violate the limits. NEW ROOMMATE,NEW LEASE It is very necessary when you add a new roommate you should check and pass the credit check and you should not be surprised when your landlord will ask to sign the new agreement. There are several landlords who will strict with their home for rent agreements so they will make new agreements when any type of modification made by tenants. Signing a new agreement will assure to landlord that new roommate will completely liable for rent.

  2. NEW RENT It feels odd when your landlord will raise rent without any prior notice or intimation for the use of the exact place or space which is using previously at less amount, landlords assume that adding more tenants will cause more wear and tear. When you are adding a roommate you have to sign a new lease, with the new rent amount. SECURITY DEPOSIT Along with the new lease or agreement your landlord will ask you to submit the additional security deposit. Your state law has some terms & condition that the landlord will follow them so if you will raise the rent within the limit of rent then there is no issue, but if they cross the limit of rent then you should consider the state laws, but before going to your local law office, you should know they cost according to the person in home for rent. As tenants, you should know that about the features of adding a new roommate in your rental homes & you must take the permission to your landlord before adding them. Because if you didn’t inform to your landlord or your landlord give the negative response to adding a roommate and you still in the process of adding a new one them then your landlord will take an action against you. So be fair with your landlord.
