Firstly a rough sketch is made on a rough starched cloth which is then followed by filling the sketch with vibrant colours. Pichwai paintings take a long time to complete, ranging from a few weeks to months. Colours are usually made of natural sources while the brushes are made of the hair of horse, squirrel or goat. However, with time synthetic materials also found their use in making these materials for these paintings. Presently, both traditional and modern equipments are in fashion.
