  1. How Can I Provide Breast Cancer Emotional Support? A breast cancer diagnosis can change the lives of women, their families, and their friends. Providing strong breast cancer emotional support can help your loved one throughout her diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Here are a few ways you can give support. Give Breast Cancer Emotional Support By: Being ready to listen. Show that you are there whenever she needs you. If you are able, let her know you are not limited by time; late-night support can be very helpful. ● Considering her needs. This experience can be draining, so do not be offended if she can not take your calls. Additionally, try not to call too late, early, or during meal times. ● Coming to visit her. Being physically present can feel more meaningful than ever. Call ahead to make sure it is okay, and reschedule if you or a family member has been sick. ● Just being yourself. Do not feel like you have to know exactly what to say. She needs your encouragement, so your relationship and interaction should stay authentic. ● More Ways You Can Give Support: Provide Practical Help Ask how you can provide support with everyday tasks. For example, you could: Make homemade frozen meals that can be used when her spouse is too busy to cook. ● Help with housework and gardening; even if the task is small, it can help out a lot. ● Look after their children or pets during appointments, treatments, or date nights. ● Breast Cancer Care Packages If you want to give a meaningful gift, you could make a breast cancer care package with: New books and magazines for entertainment during treatments or hospital stays. ● Soft and warm clothing (like socks, beanies, or a robe) to provide extra comfort. ● Her favorite healthy foods, so she has something to snack on after treatments. ● Some helpful and practical items like water bottles, lip balms, and hand sanitizers. ●
