The god is referred to by various names, for example, Karthikeya, kanda, Vadivela and Muruga at different sanctuaries.   6. Swami Malai is the fourth house among the Arupadai Veedu and is situated close to Kumbakonam, on the banks of waterway Cauvery. Muruga shows the importance of the grandiose word "AUM" to his dad ruler Shiva, in this homestead. Shiva sits acted like gure with worship to his son in Swami Malai. The Muruga sanctuary has 60 stages each named after one of the 60 Tamil years.
