  2. Young customers prefer cars with high power. When used for carrying passengers they are called performance cars. Normally cars with extra power are used as sports cars. But in India the customers prefer good mileages also along with good performances. • Performance cars • A performance car will have great power, good controls and good braking and suspension systems. The mileages will be normally less and acceleration time for idle to top speed will be very less. Petrol cars perform better than the diesel cars. Performance cars are normally costlier than the normal passenger cars. In the Indian market there are many affordable performing vehicles.

  3. Hatchbacks • The cheapest performing car in India is the hatchback Maruti Suzuki Swiftwhich is available for Rupees 4.65 to 7.29 lakh. The 1.2 litre, 86 bhp and 114 NM torque petrol engines and 1.3 litres, 74 bhp and 160 NM torque engines make the Swift a performing car. The petrol variants take 12.29 sec and the diesel ones 14.8 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration. The Volkswagen Polo GT TDi diesel is another performing car priced Rupees 8.48 lakh. The 1.5L engines produce 114 bhp and 250 NM torque. The Toyota EtiosLivaSportivo variant priced Rupees 7.19 lakh takes 11.5 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration with a 1.5L diesel engine.

  4. Sedans • The Fiat Linea T-jet variants priced Rupees 8.08 to 9.78 lakh are performing petrol sedans with 1.4L, 115 bhp and 207 NM torque engines. The car takes 11.14 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration with a top speed of 200 kmph. The Ford Fiesta diesel variants with1.5L, 90 bhp, 204 NM engines are great performers. Priced Rupees 8.15 to 10.19 lakh the Fiesta gives mileages of 25.01 kmpl. The car takes 9.3 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration with a top speed of 169 kmph. The Skoda Octavia 2L TDI CR variant priced Rupees 17.87 lakh is another performance car with mileages of 20.6 kmpl. The 320 NM torque 2L engines accelerate the car from 0 to 100 kmph in 9.35 sec and the top speeds are 205 kmph.

  5. Utility vehicles • Among the SUVs the Ford EcoSport 1.0L Ecoboost petrol variants priced Rupees 9.14 and 9.70 lakh have good drivability. The Maruti S-Cross is another performing crossover priced rupees 8.34 to 13.74 lakh. The 1.6L diesel engine develops 120 ps power and 320 NM torque. • Luxury cars • The Audi RS7, the Lamborghini Huracan LP-610-4, the BMW M Series and the Mercedes Benz GLA are some of the costly performance cars available in India. All these cars take less than 6 sec for 0 to 100 kmph acceleration and their top speeds are 250 to 325 kmph.
