IndiawillfollowlaterthisyearinOctober. Additionally, thereare127countriesthathavesomeformoflegislationin placetokerbtheuseofthistypeofplastic. Manycountriesnowhave taxationoncarrybags, forexample, insomestatesinIndiaifyougo shoppingtoasupermarket, youareaskedtopayforcarrybags, therefore, encouragingshopperstobringtheirownbagswiththemandre-use. India’ssingle-useplasticbancomesintoforceon2ndOctoberthisyear, withtheplanbeingthatallsingle-useplasticswillbescrappedby2022.  Thebanwillmeancorporatessuchasairports, hotels, officesandairlines willeventuallyremovealluseofsingle-useplastic, replacingitwith recyclableplasticorcardboardandpaper. Thebancoverstheimportand manufacturingofsingle-useplastic.  Thisisdoubtlessafantasticinitiative. Indiahasoneofthebiggestcoastlinesintheworld, andsoisresponsiblefor someofthepollutionproblemintheoceanssurroundingthecountry. Whynotstartyourdaybybrushingwitha bambootoothbrush. Everytoothbrushmanufacturedsince1930isstillon ourplanet. That'sbillionsandbillionsofthem!! Don’tuseshoppingbagsmadeofplastic, instead, useclothbagsorpaper bagsandtakethemoutwithyouwhenyougoshopping.   Takeyourown flasksofteaorcoffeetowork, usecoffeeshopsthatprovidere-usable disposablecups. Don’tbuyplasticwaterbottles – useaChillybottleor similarflask-typeinstead.  Neverbuyplasticstraws, buypaperinstead. Refuseone, ifoffereditwheninarestaurantorbar. Onapositivenote, moreandmorecountriesaretakingownershipofthe single-useplasticproblem. Thisisallgoodnews, butweasindividualsalso needtotakeresponsibilitytoliveapurelifestyle.
