  1. THE IMPORTANCE OF SAT PREPARATION The SAT is a standardized test for getting into the top colleges in the United States of America. The SAT analyses how many problems the test-takers can solve within the time limit & that further determinates their SAT score. A private organization, The College Board, has the ownership of the SAT & the right to make any amendments to it extends exclusively to it. The SAT is divided into four sections with each section having limited time to complete it. It is offered seven times a year. To study SAT in Lebanon, there are numerous coaching centers available for the students. Since most colleges of the United States require the SAT scores, it is essential to have a strategy for attaining a good score. A good score in SAT can also earn the student an outstanding scholarship. Considering how expensive colleges can be, this can be an added advantage to the student. Consequently, a planned preparation to appear for the SAT is necessary. Numerous companies ask for SAT scores from their job-applicants. Students seeking to answer SAT exams in Lebanon can opt for practice tests after completing their scheduled preparation. This will boost their efficiency by giving them a rough idea of their strengths, weaknesses & the areas that require more of their attention. Moreover, the practice tests teach the student the art of time management, which is the key to scoring well in SAT. Understanding the format of the test is extremely important for the student. The four sections of SAT constitute Reading, Writing & Language, Math’s (no calculator) & Math’s (calculator allowed). The Reading test of SAT is made up of one section with 52 questions within the time span of 65 minutes. All of the questions are multiple choice questions. The Writing & Language section is made up of one section with 44 multiple choice questions & a time limit of 35 minutes. The SAT math’s test is 80 minutes long & consists of 58 questions: 45 multiple choice questions & 13 grid in questions. The grid in questions are supposed to be solved separately & an answer is to be provided by the test-takers. The No- calculator section has 20 questions with a time span of 25 minutes, having 15 MCQs & 5 grid in. The calculator section has 38 questions, consisting of 30 MCQs & 8 grid in to be solved within 55 minutes. A closer inspection of the format of SAT will lead to the conclusion that the SAT does not have a separate section attributed to Science, which makes it easier for the not-so- scientifically-inclined students to attempt it. The SAT emphasizes Algebra, and questions from logarithms, graphs & trigonometric functions and matrices are not asked. Therefore, it is comparatively easier than ACT. Purchasing an SAT skills book can be useful for the practice of the grammar & mathematical sections.

  2. A point worth noting is that some of the states compulsorily require the SAT score. Thus, focusing on the preparation is very important if the student resides in such a state. The students who have graduated from schools that follow the Lebanese educational system are directly admitted to the sophomore year. Of the two SAT exams in Lebanon, they are required to take SAT 1 but not SAT 2. The SAT is an adequate way to test the literacy, mathematical skills & writing skills of a student. It shows the readiness of a student for a college education. To study SAT in Lebanon, numerous courses are available such as The Prince town Review & AMIDEAST. The student can choose his/her course, according to personal requirements & preferences. Choosing wisely shall lead him/her to score well in SAT, which can be the commencement of a promising career.
