  2. Why the Real Estate Agent didn’t Become Extinct Real estate agents provide many services to their clients. Some agents are good in many things while others specialize in a very specific section of the business. All of them however, in their different ways offer services that Zillow, Redfin and other similar online services, try as they may, have found hard to duplicate.

  3. Local Knowledge and Pricing Many websites, most notably Zillow, have being trying for some time now to develop automated valuation systems. These are algorithms that, based on recent sales and other data, come up with a value for each property you through in. But In order to put a price tag on a property you need to have good knowledge of the home itself, all the homes that have sold in the area and the characteristics of the area itself. And this is the kind of know ledge only an experienced realtor can have.

  4. Transaction Management, Legal compliance and Negotiations With the transactions becoming more complicated everyday and all the protection the law is trying to afford the consumers the whole buying/selling process has become a real challenge. Most people do not want or cannot handle all this complexity themselves and would gladly pay a professional to do it right for them.

  5. Marketing And finally and most important in my opinion, marketing. A good Realtor should above all be a good marketer because this is the activity that will add the most value to the transaction -at least on the seller side. Especially in the internet era where the information is abundant and the communication so easy only exceptional marketing can make a property stand out from the competition and ultimately will attract more offers at higher prices and will net more money to the seller.
