    5. MGC ROI Lowest Cost of Ownership in the Industry One platform to purchase, manage and upgrade for all applications One scheduling & management system One common feature set and end user interface reduces training Simplified Deployment Single platform supports any application, any endpoint, any network Transitions seamlessly from pt-to-pt to multipoint conferences Simple to operate for both scheduled and on demand conferences Investment Protection Supports both legacy and future environments Single platform lets you migrate from ISDN to new technologies such as SIP The advantage of having a unified platform is that the same MGC is used for both audio and video conferencing. There is no requirement for separate MCUs. This reduces cost and overhead, and makes scheduling and managing the system simple and flexible. The MGC supports both point-to-point conferences with its built-in Gateway capabilities and multi point conferences. The MGC’s hot swappable modular architecture makes it easy to accommodate changing and growing requirements. With new emerging technologies, the customer simply needs to upgrade the SW version, and add any new HW module if required. The MGC is a reliable and proven platform that protects the customers investment. The advantage of having a unified platform is that the same MGC is used for both audio and video conferencing. 6. MGC Flexibility – Access the Conference Any Way You Want On-Demand The ability for an end user to easily and spontaneously start a conference, from any endpoint at any time Single number dial from any audio or video endpoint Or…instant access from desktop “buddy list” The MGC supports Reserved, On Demand, Attended and Unattended conferences. Reserved conferences always have priority over On Demand conferences. The MGC supports Reserved, On Demand, Attended and Unattended conferences. Reserved conferences always have priority over On Demand conferences.

    7. Why On-Demand? Increased productivity for both end users and IT administration End users can initiate conferencing from anywhere at anytime, when needed Required support resources are significantly reduced Conference parameters are set up on the MGC only once, according to meeting requirements and corporate policies Resources remain “dormant” until the conference is activated Better internal customer service More conference control for “power-users” On Demand conferencing increases the use of the MGC by making audio and video conferencing easy. The MGC provides flexibility in deploying On Demand conferencing by supporting several implementation options. The customer can select one or more options based on requirements and corporate policies. Implementation of On Demand conferencing on the MGC is easy because set up is required only once. Also, resources are never utilized on the MGC unless a user initiates a conference. On Demand conferencing increases the adoption rate and makes conferencing more productive. 8. On-Demand Conferencing with “Meeting Rooms” Only Polycom offers flexible On-Demand conferencing… Includes “Meeting Rooms” with entry queue service for complete conference control and security Meeting rooms can be assigned to individuals, work groups or departments…each with a unique conference ID and password (conference and chairperson) End users can launch an On-Demand conference from any endpoint (audio or video) with the same dial-in number (e.g. 1-800…) An Entry Queue (EQ) is a special routing lobby to which one or several dial in numbers are assigned for both video and audio endpoints (ALL-in-ONE), including PSTN, VoIP, H.320, H.323, and T1-CAS endpoints. Participants with the same capabilities (audio only or video line rate, video protocol, video format, etc.) dial the same dial-in number and they are routed to the appropriate conference according to the conference numeric ID they enter using IVR/DTMF. A Meeting Room is a reservation on the MGC, without resource allocation. The reservation is saved in the MGC memory and is inactive and remains inactive for an unlimited time, until the first participant connects to it. The Meeting Room remains in sleep mode (passive) in between activations. Meeting Rooms make conferencing simple, secured, and transparent to the user, as all participants dial the same number, and the chairperson has full control over the meeting. 14. MGC Open Architecture (MGC 50/100) Flexibility Highly customizable MGC can be configured for any application – or combination of applications Scalability Easy migration path to meet growing or changing requirements Redundancy Hot Swappable modules can be changed even during an ongoing conference Redundant power supplies (MGC 100) Shared hardware and software architecture Maximum Capacity Utilization All hardware and software resources are shared dynamically across applications, and can be used to maximum capacity Unlike the MGC, resources are lost in a closed box solution in the process of mixing, matching and cascading between MCU's and gateways Redundancy: If a module fails in a MGC, it can be taken out of the MGC without affecting any other module. If there is an alarm sign on a module during an ongoing conference, the conference can be moved to another module without affecting the conference status. Flexible Migration Path: Any hardware module can be easily configured in the MGC to meet growing or changing requirements, making the MGC highly customizable. Flexibility - Unified Conferencing: The MGC enables multi network, gateway and unified conferencing configurations in the same chassis. Maximum Capacity Utilization: In a multi network and Unified MGC all the hardware resources can be used to their maximum capacity because all the modules are configured on the same chassis and resources are shared dynamically. No resources are wasted due to cascading and hard configurations. Redundancy: If a module fails in a MGC, it can be taken out of the MGC without affecting any other module. 31. Conference Level Security - External Database Access Authentication Participant profiles are created and maintained on external enterprise database, including access and conferencing privileges This allows centralized management and maintenance of employee profiles in one location (as opposed to saving on MGC) Conference initiation and access for each participant is validated against the database Profiles of participants are stored in an external database. This database application is used for authentication. In this implementation, security is of very high priority. The authentication can be done at the Entry Queue level and at the conference level. At the entry queue level, the MGC queries the external database server whether the participant has the right to create a new conference. At the conference level the MGC verifies whether the participant can access the conference and if the participant is the conference chairperson.
