While celebrated in the whole of India, the place which takes centre stage for Ganesh Ganesh Chaturthi Chaturthi is Mumbai Mumbai. True, that the festival has sort of exerted a trademark influence over the city, but this does not mean that other cities take a back-seat. The South Indian hubs of Bangalore, Chennai, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad too are not far behind when it comes to the occasion. The best place to travel and be in this Ganesh Chaturthi (also called called Vinayaka Vinayaka Chaturthi Chaturthi, , Pillayar Pillayar Chaturthi Chaturthi) ) if you are in South India is Chennai. It starts off on the fourth day after the sighting of the new moon during Aavani. Here, you will come across a lot of pandals featuring Ganesha statues of various sizes and statures in various parts of the city. Laddoos are offered as to food to the idols. The worship goes on for a couple of days before idols are finally immersed at the beaches of the city. Ganesh Chaturthi (also Travel and Witness… So, why would you travel to Chennai from a city such as Bangalore on this occasion? Isn’t it the same after all? Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam too are good options; but with Chennai, the mixed feelings of joy and sadness go hand-in-hand as Ganesha idols are immersed in the beach waters. The crowds and the occasion give rise to joy; while the feeling of departing from the lord brings in a moment of disappointment. The ambience of the occasion with the beach, can only match up to the great metropolis of Mumbai. There are some buses to Kasal To Mumabi. Kasal To Mumabi.

  2. Journey Woes Solved.. Lord Ganesha’s vaahan or vehicle is the rat, which travels a lot. This suggests that Ganesha himself travels a lot. So, it wouldn’t be wrong to consider travelling ‘unholy’ this time. Yet, it is not usual for any business to not expect and see a spike during festive occasions. Having said this, the travel and tourism industry is no exception. You may already be experiencing non-availability of train tickets, brokers asking for exorbitant amounts, flights either not an option or fares sky-rocketing. Bus counters too are not far behind in this arena. You may be asked to pay double or triple the amount you pay on normal days. So, is your only option left is a cab? Well, not necessarily. No matter what the occasion is, TicketGoose.com will always offer you tickets at reasonable prices. Download the mobile application and you can avail discounts, coupon code, too. 3. Never Forget to Explore these Places on Never Forget to Explore these Places on Ganesh Chathurthi! Ganesh Chathurthi! The pandals are almost set in most of the places for Ganesh Chaturthi, the festivity which is dedicated to Ganesha or the Elephant head God, the second son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. There are different versions of how Ganesha got elephant head. Long story short, it is believed that angry Shiva severed the head of Ganesha. The devtas could manage to find only a baby elephant’s head and this had to be fixed on Ganesha’s head to bring him back to life. This festival is celebrated for 10 days almost all over India. For many God believer or God fearing person Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi is something they had been waiting for welcoming the God of new beginnings. But for a person like me, every festivity I see a holiday. This year Sept. 5th marks the beginning of this festival. And nothing can be more glorifying for me or other working professionals to get a long weekend

  4. like this. Especially for those working in the private firms, long weekends are the only way to get away from head breaking work schedule to their family and friends. Mumbai Though Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated all over Indian, in the Mumbai the festival is just frenetic. Mumbai is basically best known for celebrating Vinayaka Chaturthi with high spirit. Pandals, rangoli powder, aratis, and prayers sung, pulling Ganesh statue on the cart, Dj music on, and the best part is breaking curd pot. This is the best part of celebrating the festival; human ladders are made to break the pot hanged some 50 ft above the ground filled with curd or bhang. The group which can break the pot wins or steals the show. The idol seated in each pandal is known as ‘Raja.’ And each Ganesh statue is a sight to behold. The festival is so significant and celebrated with such enthusiasm that last year Ganesh idol was bathed in the colors of the Brazilian football team. Pune Not so far from Mumbai the small city, Pune, also has its flavor of enthusiasm. The most popular spot for celebration here is the Dagdu Sheth Halwai temple, named after a sweet vendor who was every local’s favorite. List of visitors include celebrities, ministers and other bigwigs. Pune has the

  5. perfect reason for a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. Moreover, this time, there’s an added advantage that the festival fell on Monday and gave ample amount making it a long weekend. So, why not take this chance and sweep stealthily to the neighborhood city and spend some quality time? Bangalore Bangalore, the young and the dynamic city, that entices youngsters from around the world. And as an outsider, if you wanna taste the flavor and fervor of the city, the best time is to visit during the festivity season. Bangalore is not only known for its industries and dynamic young crowd, but also known for its eco-friendly outlook towards environment. Though the city celebrates Ganesh Habba (festival) with great zeal, they do not try to interrupt with nature’s fury. In most of the street corners and pandals only eco-friendly Ganesh status would be seen on the city. Some of the favorite pandals are set at Panchamukha Heramba Ganapati Temple, Shri Jambu Ganapati Temple, and Ananthanagar Ganapati Temple. And Ganesh visarjan or immersion ritual is done in Sankey tank or Ulsoor lake. So, if you have are a Bangalore city fanatic like any other young crowd, head to Bangalore this festive plus long weekend to witness the festival and its city in grandeur.

  6. Hyderabad Though the vigor and valor of celebration may not be as energetic as Mumbai’s, but the devotion and passion are equivalent in Hyderabad as in other three cities mentioned above. The largest Lord Ganesh Idol in the world is installed near Khairtabad State Library during Ganesh Chaturthi festival and is immersed at Hussain Sagar Lake. It takes months to be built and the visitor’s list includes a large mass of general devotees as well as film industry biggies. Ganesh statue immersion is worth watching in Hyderabad. If you get a chance to be in the city don’t miss to go to Hussain Sagar lake to watch the final immersion on the 11th day. Like Mumbai and Pune, Hyderabad is yet another place for the grand celebration of this festival where over 60000 pandals of the lord are hosted. One can visit places like Balapur, Khairatabad, and Gowlipura for getting themselves to be a part of this grand event. Here, on the tenth day, the idols of the Lord are immersed in the Hussain Sagar Lake following the chants of the mantras by the devotees.

  7. Chennai Chennai is also not behind in celebrating festivals 365 days. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with equal devotion and passion here. Pandals, big and small can be seen at nook and corner of the street. Unlike DJ music played in Mumbai, here huge loud speakers are installed next to the pandal and children come to the pandal wearing Lord Ganesha costume. Devotees are seen visiting the Ganesh temples and pandals with garlands, tulasis, coconut and more as to offer their prayers to the Lord. Vermilion and turmeric play an important role in all Hindu rituals here and hence the Lord Vinayaka, as known here, is seen almost covered in turmeric and vermilion.
