  1. GOOD AFTERNOON CLASS!

  2. ATTENDANCE

  3. MOTIVATION

  4. None, because base on the bar chart the highest number of attendance is only 90%. 50% Base on the bar chart, year 2 had 6 children receiving 100 % attendnace. Label is the missing part of the bar chart.

  5. The Aladdin is the most popular movie because it has 32%. The movie shrek has 18% of the students picked. The Shrek and aladdin are the movies account for half of the votes. the percentage of Fantasia has 10% and cars has 11% base on the kids choice. The fantasia is the least popular movie because it only has 10%.

  6. The Following Frequency Histogram Presents The Weights In Pounds (Lbs) Of 50 Visitors To A Health Clinic. Answer The Following Questions Based On This Graph. 1. 2. 3. How many visitors weigh more than 160 pounds? What percent of visitors weigh less than 140 pounds? How many visitors weight at most 170 pounds?

  7. The Following Frequency Histogram Presents The Weights In Pounds (Lbs) Of 50 Visitors To A Health Clinic. Answer The Following Questions Based On This Graph. How many visitors weigh more than 160 pounds? There are 24 visitors weigh more than 160 pounds. What percent of visitors weigh less than 140 pounds? 11 percent of visitors weigh less than 140 pounds. How many visitors weight at most 170 pounds? There are 12 visitors weight at most 170 pounds.

  9. WHAT IS A TABLE?

  10. WHAT IS A TABLE? Tables are used to organize data that is too detailed or complicated to be described adequately in the text, allowing the reader to quickly see the results.

  11. Parts of a table: Title Column Titles Table Body

  12. WHAT IS A GRAPH?

  13. WHAT IS A GRAPH? Graphs are visual representations. They are used to organize information to show patterns and relationships.

  14. WHAT IS BAR GRAPH?

  15. BAR GRAPH A diagram in which the numerical values of variables are represented by the height or length of lines or rectangles of equal width.

  16. HISTOGRAM A diagram consisting of rectangles whose area is proportional to the frequency of a variable and whose width is equal to the class interval.

  17. EXAMPLE: Mr. Larry, a famous doctor, is researching the height of the students studying in the 8th standard. He has gathered a sample of 15 students but wants to know which the maximum category is where they belong.

  18. SOLUTION: We have created a histogram using 6 bins with 6 different frequencies, as seen in the chart below. On Y-axis, it’s the average number of students falling in that particular category. In X-axis, we have a range of height. For example, the 1st bin range is 138 cms to 140 cms. And we can note that the count is 1 for that category from the table and as seen in the below graph. Here we can see the heights of the students on an average is in the range of 142 cm to 146 cm for 8th standard. And also, one can note that one side of the average also falls on the other side of the average, which is the sign of normal distribution.

  19. What is a Pie Chart?

  20. Pie Chart A type of graph in which a circle is divided into sectors that each represent a proportion of the whole.

  21. EXAMPLE: Let us look at the example of the pie chart that represents the ingredients used to prepare a butter cake.

  22. SCATTER PLOT A scatter plot is a graph in which the values of two variables are plotted along two axes, the pattern of the resulting points revealing any correlation present.

  23. VARIOUS TYPES OF CORRELATION CAN BE INTERPRETED THROUGH THE PATTERNS DISPLAYED ON SCATTERPLOTS. THESE ARE: POSITIVE (VALUES INCREASE TOGETHER) NEGATIVE (ONE VALUE DECREASES AS THE OTHER INCREASES) NULL (NO CORRELATION)

  24. Generalization 1. 2. What is the difference between Table and Graphs? Give one example. Based on your own understanding, why do you think that it is important to have a table or graph on a research paper? What is the difference between Bar Graph and Histogram? Explain. 3.

  25. Generalization What is the difference between Table and Graphs? Give one example. The content is represented in the form of rows and columns. The graph represents the mathematical relationship between various data. Based on your own understanding, why do you think that it is important to have a table or graph on a research paper? Tables and graphs are a useful tool for organising available data for decision making. They are also a useful way of providing evidence to convince others towards a particular argument. Analysing and synthesising data from various sources is an important part of developing arguments and decision making. What is the difference between Bar Graph and Histogram? Explain. Histogram refers to a graphical representation, that displays data by way of bars to show the frequency of numerical data. Bar graph is a pictorial representation of data that uses bars to compare different categories of data.

  26. Application Observe the following pie chart that represents the money spent by Ana at the funfair. The indicated color shows the amount spent on each category. The total value of the data is 20 and the amount spent on each category is interpreted as follows: To convert this into pie chart percentage, we apply the formula: (Frequency ÷ Total Frequency) × 100

  27. Application To convert this into pie chart percentage, we apply the formula: (Frequency ÷ Total Frequency) × 100 Let us convert the above data into a percentage: Amount spent on rides: (10/20)× 100 = 50% Amount spent on toffees: (4/20)× 100 = 20% Amount spent on popcorn: (2/20)× 100 = 10% Amount spent on ice-cream: (4/20)× 100 = 20%
