  1. Sunglasses: More Than a Fashion Statement When you hear the word ‘sunglasses’ what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Summer, of course! Perhaps we have Don Henley to thank for that. They’re fun, trendy, and more essential to your summer experience than you might realize. Jeepers Creepers, Protect Your Peepers One of the first things we learn in Summer Fun 101 is sunscreen, sunscreen, and sunscreen! But why stop at protecting our skin? Sunburns can hurt like it’s nobody's business, but they’re not permanent nor do they worsen over time. The same can’t be said forcataracts or macular degeneration, both of which can be caused by prolonged exposure to UV rays. Choosing the right pair may sound intimidating but fear not, the Glaucoma Research Foundation has a few suggestions to help you out. Fashion Follows Function Eye care isn’t limited to the beach, or even summer for that matter. A glare from the sun can create dangerous driving conditions any time of year. It reflects off of snow, so don’t forget to pack a pair when you go skiing or snowboarding. If your job requires you to spend time outside then sunglasses are considered Personal Protective Equipment. No matter the season, your hobbies, or occupation odds are it's in your best interest to invest in a pair. More Than Meets the Eyes Even without an ocular condition, many disorders can still impact vision and light tolerance. Photosensitivity is a prominent feature of migraines, so it’s not uncommon for migraine sufferers to have a pair handy. It’s recommended that sunglasses be worn after types of eye surgery. Specialized sunglasses exist for those prone to seizures; these are especially beneficial for moviegoers as not all films include a warning about flashing lights. The Doctor Is In

  2. Whether it’s life imitating art or art imitating life, pop culture has long told us sunglasses make you cool, edgy, and mysterious (think The Matrix trilogy or Jackie O). Naturally the academic community weighed in on it. Vanessa Gill-Brown, PhD, titled her 270 page dissertation Armed Glances: the history and culture of sunglasses & cool. Her impressive research found direct connections to wearing sunglasses and how confident we feel and appear to others, as well as our sex appeal. All the Better to See You With Alright, let’s be honest. Science aside, sunglasses are just plain fun! Look and you can find the perfect pair for anyone’s unique sense of style. And I truly mean anyone. What you wear tells the world who you are and what you’re all about. Are you ready to introduce yourself? Visit our website to see Sunglasses Collection.
