School Management towards development through not only the optimum use of the human resources, physical sources, principles and concepts that help in achieving all the objectives of the school but also the proper coordination and adjustment among all of them.  Management is the process of planning, organising, directing, controlling and evaluating to accomplish predetermined objectives of an institution through coordinated use of human and material resources. School management is a process of leading the school

  3. Meaning of Educational Management • Donald J Clough: - Management is the heart and science of decision making and leadership. • Henry Fayol: - To manage is to ― forecast and plan, to organise, to command, to coordinate and to control.

  4. Meaning of School Management System A School Management system is designed to improve the way a school is managed through comprehensive functionality. It is an interactive platform for all users such as Students, Teachers, Management, and Parents. It connects all the departments of an institution with administrative features like timetables, examination details, student information, certifications, reports generation, result generation, payroll, and inventory.

  8. Scope of School Management The scope of school management covers the following:  Intellectual development of the child.  Moral development of the child. Social development of the child.  Physical development of the child. Aesthetic development of the child.

  9. Participatory management • Participatory management is the practice of empowering members of a group, such as employees of a company or citizens of a community, to participate in organizational decision making.

  10. Non – Participatory Management • A management style wherein one person controls all the decisions and takes very little inputs from other group members. It is also called as Authoritative leadership.

  12. Planning Planning is one of the important attributes of educational management. To achieve the aims and objectives of education, effective planning with organizing, staffing, directing and controlling are required. Plan is a commitment to a particular course of actions believed necessary to achieve the desired results. • Types of Educational planning:- • Materials and resources • Man power • Investment efficiency

Educational Organisation An organisation be defined as stable pattern of interaction, among conditions or groups having a collective identity (a name and a location) pursuing interest in achieving given tasks and co-ordinated through a system of authority. Organisations are social units deliberately constructed and reconstructed to seek specific goals.

  14. Controlling in Educational Management Controlling is a management function which monitors whether the activities on going well or not. As we know that the activities are must fit in the planning. If there is something that is not appropriate, it needs an adjustment. Controlling involves determining what is achieved evaluate performance and implement corrective measures to enable the aims and objectives implemented in accordance with the original plan.

  15. Therefore, controlling means comparing performance with respect to pre-set goals and making the necessary adjustments and corrections. There are four steps in the process of control. • First, establish the standards. • Second, measure the performance. • Third, compare the actual performances or results with standards. • Fourth, take the corrective action which required.

  16. According to (Kimani, 2011: 46) effective control systems tend to have certain characteristics. These are: • Accuracy • Timeliness • Flexibility • Acceptability • Economic feasibility • Strategic placement • Corrective actions • Emphasis on exception

  17. Resource Management Resource management is the practice of planning, scheduling, and allocating people, money, and technology to a project or program. In essence, it is the process of allocating resources to achieve the greatest organizational value.

Human Resources (HR) Human resources (HR) is the division of a business/organization that is charged with finding, screening, recruiting, and training job applicants, as well as administering employee-benefit programs. Objectives of human resource management • Societal objectives • Organizational objectives • Functional objectives • Personal objectives

  19. Material Resource Management The objects that have material value or use are owned by a person or educational institutions are referred as material resources. In other words, the assets in the form of material possessions are called material resources. Material resources include the equipment or material used by people to execute a project or perform a task.

  20. Financial Management “Financial Management is the application of the planning and control functions to the finance function.” HOWARD AND UPTON. The school must have sufficient financial resources to guarantee its continued existence. It must have permanent source of income to meet the running expenses of the school so as to maintain it at a reasonable standard of efficiency, to pay salaries to teachers and other categories of staff regularly and undertakes improvement/development of school facilities.

  21. Conclusion School Management is the process of planning, organising, directing, controlling and evaluating to accomplish predetermined objectives of an institution through coordinated use of human, finance and material resources.
