  1. How often are you guilty of … “The Simon Factor?”

  2. Simon’s consistent dynamic on American Idol? He’s SARCASTIC, NEGATIVE, and DEGRADING.

  3. You often feel that he’s willing to mutilate anyone else’s EGO and SELF-WORTH in an attempt to make himself look more in control.

  4. Part of the trap? He’s really often pretty funny and pretty right in what he says.

  5. It’s not WHAT he says, but HOW he says it that often makes him such a jerk.

  6. What’s the Word say in response to this culturally- celebrated, sarcastic multi millionaire?

  7. Psalm 52:2 and 4“The tongue of the evil man looks for ways to play tricks with his words. His words are like sharp razors, cutting as he speaks…”

  8. Psalm 52:2 and 4“This man loves all his devouring words, loving the destruction that they do.”

  9. Proverbs 19:1“It’s better for a poor man who walks in his integrity than for a rich man that is twisted in what comes out of his mouth.”

  10. Proverbs 19:1“That man will be marked as a fool.”

  11. Psalm 64:2“Evil men make their tongue to become like a cutting sword. They bend their words to become like bows that shoot arrows.”

  12. How often are you gutlessly another “Paula” to the people around you?

  13. Paula’s DNA revolves around a “nicey-nice” persona that often lacks the courage to tell people the OBVIOUS TRUTH.

  14. You get the idea that while Simon wants to look COOL and IN CONTROL ...

  15. Paula wants to be LIKED, WELL THOUGHT OF AND ACCEPTED by most everyone.

  16. When you let the “Paula” play out too much in your life

  17. You never have the guts to hold people accountable or tell them what they really need to hear(unless you’re ticked).

  18. Your need for acceptance makes you play the “nice guy.”Even when “nice isn’t really nice.”

  19. Sometimes the mix with Paula gets even more costly …

  20. … because it includes an undertone of SEDUCTION, ROMANCE, AND SEXUALTIY.

  21. All to manipulate a desired response.

  22. Psalm 12:2-3“The evil person speaks vain, empty words to those around him. They speak with flattering lips and a double heart.”

  23. Psalm 12:2-3“The Lord has no tolerance for this. He will cut off all those who speak with an empty, flattering tongue.”

  24. Proverbs 28:23“The man who speaks the truth and corrects another person will later find more favor with that person than the insincere flatterer.”

  25. Proverbs 5:3“For the lips of a deceptive woman drip honey like out of a honeycomb. Her flattering mouth is smoother than oil.”

  26. Proverbs 27:6“Count a man a true friend when he speaks truth to you, even if his truthful words wound you.”

  27. Proverbs 27:6“Realize that though someone may be kissing you to your face, those kisses are often deceitful.”

  28. Proverbs 27:17“As a piece of iron is able to sharpen another piece of iron …”

  29. Proverbs 15:4 and 28“A healthy tongue is like a tree of life to everyone who hears it speak, but an evil tongue cuts deep into another man’s spirit.”

  30. Proverbs 15:4 and 28“But the mouth of the carnal person just opens up and pours out all kinds of evil.”

  31. A closing observation from American Idol …

  32. A closing observation from American Idol … How do you handle it when YOU DON’T ‘SHINE?’

  33. We’ve all seen the exit interviews from American Idol where a sincere person is honestly devastated because they bombed.

  34. How do you react in the moments when it feels like THE DREAM HAS DIED?

  35. God’s love note to all of us during those scary times:

  36. Habakkuk 2:2-3“The Lord said to me, ‘Write your vision and dream in large, clear letters on a billboard …”

  37. Habakkuk 2:2-3“So people running past it can read it easily and tell everyone else.”

  38. Habakkuk 2:2-3“But realize that sometimes your dream won’t happen right away.”

  39. Habakkuk 2:2-3“Slowly, steadily, and surely, the time will approach when the dream I have put in your hear will be fulfilled.”

  40. Habakkuk 2:2-3“If it seems slow, wait patiently for it. That dream will really come into reality. It will not be permanently delayed.”
