  1. Oral Cancer Screening What is Oral Cancer Screening.

  2. What is Oral Cancer Screening? Oral cancer screening is a procedure in which a dentist or doctor examines your mouth for indicators of cancer or precancerous diseases. Oral cancer screening aims to detect mouth cancer at an early stage when there is a better possibility of a cure. During a typical dental visit, most dentists will examine your mouth to check for oral cancer. Additional tests may be used by some dentists to help detect areas of abnormal cells in your mouth. Whether healthy adults without risk factors for mouth cancer should be screened for oral cancer is a point of contention among medical organizations. There is no evidence that a single oral checkup or oral cancer screening test reduces the chance of dying from mouth cancer.

  4. Oral cancer screening Toronto Our team of dentists are fully qualified and have many years of experience. We offer trusted cancer screening solutions. We perform an examination of your mouth during routine dental visit to screen for oral cancer. In some cases we may use additional tests to aid in identifying areas of abnormal cells in your mouth. People with a high risk of oral cancer may be more likely to benefit from oral cancer screening, though studies haven’t clearly proved that. Factors that can increase the risk of oral cancer include: Tobacco use of any kind, including, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco and snuff, among others. • Heavy alcohol use • Previous oral cancer diagnosis • History of significant sun exposure, which increases the risk of lip cancer
