  2. Animations Tab: Possibilities • Transitions to This Slide • Affects how slides appear • Animate menu • Simple-to-Apply preset effects for title, text or graphics • Custom animation • Make individual items appear/disappear • Text • Graphics • Drawing elements

  3. Animations: 1: Slide Transitions • Controls how slide enters viewing area • Hover over transition effect icon to preview • Click icon to apply

  4. See more Slide Transitions... • Click the down arrow (triangle) at the right of transitions box • Last animation clicked applies • To Delete, click No Transition icon

  5. Using Slide Transitions • Don’t Overuse! • All slides • None or subtle transitions • Extreme transitions • Single slides • Special emphasis • Changes in subject

  6. Overusing Slide Transitions • Or too Extreme movements • Draw attention • To the technique • Away from your topic

  7. Animations: 2: Animate menu • Highlight an item Text frame, Picture, Drawing • Click the down arrow (triangle) at the right of Animate box • Highlight any effect (without clicking) Effect previews • Click effect to actually apply Select No Animation to remove all

  8. Animations: 3: Custom Animation • Most flexible, detailed option • Takes most time • Planning • Testing • Use on • Individual lines of text, Text boxes, Pictures, Drawing objects

  9. Adding Custom Animation • Choose from Animations Tab: Custom Animation • Custom animation task pane appears at right • On your slide:Select what you want to animate • Line(s) of text or text box • Picture • Drawing element

  10. Selecting animation effects • With object(s) selected: • Click Add Effect • Choose the effect to apply • Effect Previews • Keep trying • Last effect applies

  11. Previewing Custom Animation • To check effect: • Click Play or Slide Show at bottom of task pane • Effect Previews again

  12. Removing Custom Animation • Select animated element • On Custom Animation Pane:Click Remove • Last effect applied works until you Remove it

  13. Animation Tips • Use sparingly • Just because you candoesn’t mean you should….. • Subtle effects best • Bold effects for meaningful emphasis • Overuse easily tires audience • Use consistently • Variety can be confusing • Test!!!! Check it out…..
