  2. Electronic content • Definition : digital content that can be transmitted over a computer network such as the Internet • An important outcome of e - learning is e - content. • E-learning is a process and E-content is a product

  3. Multimedia elements of e - content • Text • Pictures • Animations • Presentations • Sound • Video Types of e - content • OERs (Open Educational Resources) • E – books • Online dictionaries • RLOs (Reusable Learning Object) • Encyclopedia

Features of e - content • technologically friendly to pupil for downloaded text materials and used on any computer in independently for the purpose of learning process. • learner friendly for easy navigation. • learner centric, it is useful in self instructional model. • teachers friendly, it is used in various teaching learning methods such as classroom, lecturing to a group, lab session.

  5. Advantages • Used as teacher in the virtual classroom situation. • The time and finance involved in the teaching process can be minimized. E-content is facilitating individualized instruction. • Hyper linking - contents can be linked to other pages inside and outside the book. • Non-linearity - the order of access can be determined by users. • Addition of multimedia - content presentation is enhanced by mixing information type ( sound, video etc) • Searching - the usefulness of the content is enhanced by the ability of the users to locate any piece of information or to access any section instantly.
