  1. Over 4 billion people globally wear glasses. Men and women buy eyeglasses online and in-person to see clearly but contact lenses are an amazing upgrade over them. Contact lenses are more convenient, they look good and just putting them in the eyes helps to see the world. They fit easily on the eye lens and allow you the ability to perform various outdoor activities with ease. Common vision disorders such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or other refractive errors can be treated using contact lenses. Despite being a better alternative to glasses, wearing contact lenses comes with serious risks. Not using contact lenses properly leads to side effects which affect your vision permanently. Wearing contact lenses for too long or while sleeping, not cleaning them properly, and not changing them regularly can all result in damaging your eyes. 2. Contact lenses are in direct contact with the eye lens. Rubbing the eyes or dirt entering the eyes can cause eye irritation. Symptoms of eye irritation are eye redness or burning, blurred vision, itchiness, and eye discharge. These symptoms can come suddenly and lead to an eye infection. Contact lens problems are: Blocking oxygen supply- Contact lenses provide a division between the cornea and the rest of the world. Oxygen supply is very essential to ensure that the eyes are healthy. Wearing lenses decreases the amount of oxygen reaching the eyes, blocking the oxygen supply. Dry eye syndrome- Contact lenses absorb most of the tears in the eye to keep themselves soft. This causes itchiness and a burning sensation. It can also lead to redness of the eyes. Scarring of the cornea can also be caused if the eyes get too dry causing extreme discomfort and pain. Corneal abrasion- Sleeping with contact lenses is very harmful. These lenses trap dirt and sand which rub against the cornea. This can lead to scratching of the cornea and causing a corneal abrasion. This creates an opening which attracts bacteria and viruses, causing infections and even leading to vision loss.

  4. 4. Red-eye or conjunctivitis Contact lenses absorb all the tears in the eyes, due to this, they can act as a breeding ground for microorganisms. Bacteria and viruses can breed easily and cause infections. The body also has difficulty fighting off infections caused by bacteria or viruses when you wear lenses since less oxygen reaches your cornea. Preventing contact lens problems Hydrogel lenses, such as the soft or silicone ones, transmit more oxygen than conventional soft lenses. Ultimately, they are better for your eyes. You should not sleep with contacts in or wear them for a long stretch. Using eye drops to lubricate the eyes can also provide some relief. Wear your contact lenses according to your eye doctor’s recommendations; discard and replace your contacts as directed. During contact lens wear, you should also rinse your lens storage case and let it air dry after rinsing with fresh contact lens solution Ensure that your contact lenses are replaced on time Keep your contact lenses clean by not over wearing them and replacing them as directed by an eye doctor. Schedule routine contact lens eye exams with your eye doctor.

  5. Alternatives to contact lenses LASIK- LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. In this procedure, a thin flap created on the cornea is lifted to reveal the tissue on the cornea lying underneath. This is then removed with a laser beam. The laser is then used to restructure the tissue and then the flap is replaced. People find LASIK to be advantageous over other procedures because of its many benefits. Eyeglasses- Eyeglasses are less convenient but offer an alternative to contact lenses. They don’t require as much maintenance or prove to be as risky as contact lenses. Buy eyeglasses for men or women to avoid all the risks involved with wearing contacts Conclusion People suffering from vision deficiencies need glasses or contacts to perform everyday functions such as housework, exercising or outdoor activities. The use of contact lenses increases the risk of developing eye infections due to them being a potential breeding ground for bacteria. Untreated, many of these conditions can lead to permanent damage to the eyes and, in some cases, even blindness. On experiencing any problems, take the contact lenses out immediately and replace them. Fortunately, serious problems are quite rare if you take proper care of them and clean them regularly. Don’t sleep with your contacts or wear them for prolonged durations. As an alternative LASIK surgery or wearing glasses can be considered. If you want to buy eyeglasses for women and men many options are available on the internet such as Specxyfy. They are one of the best options in the industry. Additionally, research properly and consult your eye doctor before buying contact lenses.
