  1. Getting a Selfie with the Flamingos of Aruba One of the most photographed things on the small island of Aruba are its flamingos, looking striking against the vibrant blue of the sea. Unfortunately, the flamingos are not all over the island, in fact, they live just off the main land on a smaller private island that belongs to the Renaissance Aruba Resort. Anyone who is a guest of the resort is able to visit the island free of charge, but if you have an Aruba holiday rental elsewhere on the island you will have to buy a day

  2. pass which will cost you $100. Make sure you get to the reception of the hotel early as there are only a limited number of day passes and you can't pre-book. The hotel do their utmost to ensure that the island stays as uncrowded as possible, and will always favour their guests getting a place rather than those from outside. The only way to get to the island is by boat, which leaves from the hotel every 15 minutes. Once there, you are free to enjoy Flamingo Beach as you please, whether that is simply watching the creatures, making use of the facilities or getting that perfect selfie to out on Instagram. On the beach there is also small vending machine that sells food for the flamingos which only accepts US quarters. This is a great way to ensure that you get up close and personal with the birds, and you have a much better chance of getting a photograph with them. Surprisingly, the flamingos that are living on the island were not brought there by the hotel as a visitor attraction like many people believe. In fact, every single bird travelled there of their own accord, and those that are there are not in captivity, and are free to fly off whenever they please. It is a lovely way to see flamingos in their natural environment while also enjoying the beautiful beaches that the island has to offer. It is a great day trip out from your Aruba vacation home.
