What's new with Android 10

Google has recently released its latest OS for Android phones -u2018Android Qu2019- still in its beta stage. This is the first time an Android release does not come with a dessert themed name (eg. Donut, Eclair, KitKat, Oreo, Pie etc.) but a simpler numerical name. Does this change imply that we can expect some radical new stuff about this version as well? Website: https://www.day1tech.com/

  1. What’s new with Android 10? Release date, features, functionality and what to expect

  2. Google has recently released its latest OS for Android phones -‘Android Q’- still in its beta stage. This is the frst time an Android release does not come with a dessert themed name (eg. Donut, Eclair, KitKat, Oreo, Pie etc.) but a simpler numerical name. Does this change imply that we can expect some radical new stuf about this version as well?

  3. The fragmented nature of Android makes it challenging for device manufacturers and carries to set an exact date for the Android 10 upgrade to be available. The Android 10 upgrade will be available on Google Pixel and Essential phones, and selected handsets from OnePlus, Nokia, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi etc.

  4. 1. The era of the ‘Dark Mode’ begins Android 9 did give users some heads-up on Android taking up the dark mode, and with Android 10, it has fnally adapted the system-wide dark mode. The dark mode will currently apply to the system UI and certain applications.

  5. 2. Custom all the way The Theme section in Android 10 is sure to strike a chord with most users. With the option to change the phone’s accent color, Android 10 makes customization all the more easy. Users can now choose between black, green, purple, and other colors or continue using the iconic blue (for Google Pixel).

  6. 3. Say ‘bye-bye’ to back button The standard back button for navigation can be wished goodbye. With most modern smartphones going for ‘edge-to-edge’ displays, the new Android 10 comes with gesture navigation instead (we saw it earlier in Android Pie). Users however have the option to switch back to the old two or three button system.

  7. 4. Privacy tops the list Privacy concerns are not taken lightly here. With Android 10, there are some new features introduced with respect to app permissions that allow users more control over what apps can access on the user’s phone.

  8. There are several other interesting features that Android 10 promises, though it is not clear if all features and functionalities will be available for all devices or selected devices only. Does that put the other smartphone device manufacturers at a disadvantage?
